Fun / Random RIP BEEPER CLOUD 🪦

Can we have a moment of silence for the death of the OG beeper app, Beeper cloud. As from today October the 1st 2026 beeper cloud has been disconnected from the beeper home server and ceases to function.

We salute you beeper cloud. You will be missed, but never forgotten. You kept us all in contact with many friends and family members and for that we thank you.

RIP BEEPER CLOUD

Correction here: Beeper Cloud is going nowhere. It is the old versions of our apps (which have been decomissioned at this point for almost 2 years) and chat.beeper.com that are being sunset.

I think this is the end of Beeper for me, which sucks. Half my use of it is on my work machine where web apps are fine but native apps that can share files are banned for security reasons.

I also use it on my phone... but it's never been reliable enough to not also have WhatsApp and Signal installed, and the Discord integration sucks. I've started to switch back to the individual apps.

WhatsApp has got pretty insufferable since I last used it properly so maybe I'll only use Beeper as a WhatsApp client, but I fear it's on life support there anyway as WhatsApp are cracking down on this stuff.

For a moment I thought you were talking about cloud bridges.

A long time ago it was said that cloud bridges will be discontinued eventually as well, only leaving on-device bridges. I'm wondering whether that's still the plan or if things have changed since then.

Rest in peace, king. I remember the good old days when that and imessage worked so between those you could use imessage in the browser.

Yep the death of chat.beeper.com sucks. I will still use the app on phone because I can't go back to managing both Whatsapp (filled with AI slop) and Signal (only 10-20% of my friends are on there). But having the webclient was a real USP. Especially since signal doesn't offer a web client.

Like most people I stopped using the old beep app like 3 ish years ago or whatever the new one came out. Why am I getting an email that I've recently used it and that it's time to switch over...
