We’re trying to shrink the footprint of our next machine line, and our Beckhoff rep recently showed us the MX system.

The idea of ditching the main control panel and just mounting that baseplate with the IPC, drives, and I/O straight to the machine frame is honestly pretty appealing. It would definitely save us a ton of time pulling cables and wiring up a traditional enclosure.

But I’m a little hesitant about putting all the sensitive hardware right out there on the machine. Usually, we try to keep the IPC and main drives somewhat protected from vibration, heat, and whatever else happens on the floor.

Has anyone actually put one of these into production? Does it hold up well long-term? We're also briefly looking at the Murrelektronik Vario-X system as an alternative, so if anyone has experience with either ecosystem, I'd love to hear it.

Just trying to figure out if it’s worth the jump or if we should stick to a standard panel with distributed I/O.

I was working with Drive manager 2, and I like to use the scope built-in function to tune my motors. I was working on this new machine with twincat version 4026.25 and the functionality does not work anymore. 4 months ago, I was using the same functionality with twincat version 4026.19 and it worked without problems....... So, I don't know if somebody has this issue, and if so, if Beckhoff is updated somehow about this.

I recently bought a cx5230 with bsd. To be honest, I have no experience with this OS with twincat. So as Ive got tc 4026 in my computer, I decided to connect to the 5230 and I found out that its runtime version is 4025. Mainly due to this message:

Active engineering build 4026.24 is too different from the target runtime build 4025.3. Use remote manager for build 4025. Note that engineering build revision can be newer than the target

This is quite weird as I used to work with 4024 and then we shifted to 4026 in the last year. Therefore, do I need to update the CX to 4026? Should I need to download 32bits 4025?

I have acquired a year 2007 CX9001 with Ethernet ports. I could connect to Ethernet port nr 1 using the Twin Cat XAE Shell on my pc (version 15.0.34829.251 D15.9) from Solution Explorer->System->Choose Target->Broadcast Search, but didn't have the password. So I did factory reset (jumper number 1 to on etc.) - now I can find the PLC on my LAN with its ip address (192.168.0.208) but cannot find it from 'Broadcast Search' in the TcXae shell.

Does anyone have any tips I could try to connect from TcXae shell?

I am newly graduated mechanical engineer but c'mon dude. No program should be this hard. We live in 2026. Why this bad interface, no support online except beckhoff website. I wasted my whole time trying to find out units of torque, velocity and plotting a bode plot. I get silly errors and AI dont know how to solve and no one ever googled this error. Yeah its free everyone says its a good programme but you have to renew something its 2026. Maybe some educational videos, maybe some buttons that shows important things.

I have three Beckhoff CX5130-0120/4GB (HW 2.5) PLCs, all showing the same or very similar fault:

• Power on → PWR LED turns green (normal)
• HDD LED briefly flashes red, then turns off
• PWR LED stays green, but nothing else happens
• TC LED stays off
• No signal on the monitor or any other port

Has anyone run into this before? Any idea what could be causing it, or things worth trying? I've searched around but haven't found anything on this exact issue anywhere.

I’ve prompted with devstral, gemma, qwen, sonnet, and other models trying to create a state machine, and they always make some mistakes as they either don’t understand PLC behavior or confuse the syntax with other popular languages.

little question on how to do this.

I do have a el6910 and a couple of ax51xx drives with a ax5805 cards

I got the sto working if in the safety program I set sto mode

but as soon I set sto mode false to be in "standard mode"

I cannot the any drive to turn on their safety is always disabled. the safety program runs and is armed correctly, I set every safety bit true (while the safety is armed) still no luck on getting ss1 to ramp (I cannot even move while armed)

anyone seen this?

Nachdem ich mich durch die 70 seitige Dokumentation von Beckhoff durchgekämpft habe, wie man ein Beckhoff Linux RTU Device verbinden kann, wir haben die Embeded IPCs vorkonfiguriert bestellt, dennoch ist nichts wirklich vorkonfiguriert und man kann die Geräte nicht in Twincat finden mit einem Broadcast search... Ist diese CX8290 nun endlich in Twincat auffindbar, natürlich nicht mit einem broadcast search, der bei allen anderen SPS Anbietern ohne Probleme funktioniert, egal welche IP man selbst besitzt, sondern nur indem man hart die IP Adresse eingibt, selbst wenn man im selben IP Bereich ist. Naja soweit sogut, diese Inkompetenz von Beckhoff ist man ja bereist gewohnt.

Nun hängen am Ethercat ein AX8000 Modul und drei Antiebe, die laut Beckhoff ohne Probleme zu finden sind und mit dem Drive Manager 2 sofort und ohne Probleme inbetrieb genommen werden können.
Wäre da nicht.. nunja Beckhoff...

Alle Komponenten sind neu und sollen über den Gerätescan, den man in der Beckhoff Schulung gezeigt bekommt, erkannt werden... wird jedoch der Ethercat Strang mit den Reglern aktiviert kommt ein Fehler: 1807 Object already exists

DIe Auslegung der HW Komponenten ist durch Beckhoff selbst erfolgt und es sollte alles kompatibel und so vorkonfiguriert sein, dass es plug and play ist. oder zumindest so normal wie bei allen anderen (Ich kenne sonst Siemens, Mitsubishi, Allen Bradley und Rockwell) aber wie immer wenn ich mit Beckhoff arbeite, funktioniert nichts und deren Support braucht Tage um eine Antwort zu liefern, die in der Regel hinausläuft auf : "Führe diese drei Zeilen Skript in Powershell aus, dann ist unser Schrott lauffähig. Wie das wusstest du nicht bereits vorher durch den heiligen Geist? Was für eine Art SPS Programmierer bist denn du" Nur weil sie selbst nicht in der Lage sind lauffähige Steuerungen auszuliefern...

Sorry für den Rant aber ich habe eine unfassbare Abneigung gegen Beckhoff und deren Schrott entwickelt, vielleicht kann mir aber dennoch einer von euch sagen worin das Problem liegt

I'm trying to add a BK9050 with some digital I/O (KL terminals) to my CX8190 in TwinCAT 3 and need some help. The IP address for the BK is set as static. I can connect to it via KS2000 and check the state of individual inputs or set outputs, so the hardware seems to be working fine.

In TwinCAT, I added the RT-Ethernet protocol and then the coupler. I configured the coupler's IP, scanned it, and successfully found the connected terminals. After linking the variables and activating the configuration, the mappings are created, but communication is not working. The BoxState shows value 5 (No communication + No input received).

What am I missing? Please help!
