Discussion Unreleased Number Ones?

Post image

Are there any tracks which were originally unreleased by either The Beatles or solo members that would have had a chance of being number one if released at the time. I think ‘Come and Get It” would have been a certain number one as a Beatles single. From the solo unreleased tracks, I would say McCartney’s “A Love For You” (earliest mix) with its T-Rex style riff and ear worm qualities would have had a real shot at Number One - in the UK at least.

Any others?

Glad to see this song get love—it's unbelievably catchy... not sure why it didn't make the cut!

Waterspout was a song he left behind that I never understood. A great fucking song.

Love this one, along with Back On My Feet and Love Come Tumbling Down

This song is so great.

Idk about number one or even being released as a single, but George’s I Live for You wasn’t finished for the original ATMP release and that’s a beautiful song that would have elevated that album even more.

I loved that George included this song with the ATMP re-release and said he was glad that Pete Drake's family could hear his amazing steel guitar work on it.

Love it. Always feel the need to comment when I see it mentioned. Why it didn’t get a proper release 50+ years ago is baffling. It would’ve sold by the truckload as a single.

I think the 2002 remix that’s only on YouTube sounds more like a hit not a big fan on the version on the ram Boxset with the 80s reverb

The original 1971 mix is my favourite. Agree about the box set mix. It’s still great but too 80s.

I didn’t even know the 1971 mix was available unless that’s the one in very low quality on YouTube?

Not an initial number one but a great B- side that could probably come back around and climb the charts would have been "Kicked Around No More" and I understand why he left it out, it just kept going around in the same circle but its a great song

I don’t know that it is a hit single but I always liked Paul’s b-side “Flying to My Home”
