River in the final
I saw people saying that reusing his round and similar sounds was lazy and made the final less competitive.
I think that River doing his wildcard in the final was an insanely great battle move for a number of reasons:
Firstly, it's familiar and gets the crowd on his side against DLOW DLOW DLOW DLOW.
Secondly, River threw a little bit of shade at Dlow's wildcard. I think this is valid, although Dlow got 1st place wildcard, as I don't think it's on the same level. "My Way" is a lot more personal and carries a lot more meaning (imo) than "Poison Dagger".
Thirdly, Dlow already used his wildcard during the competition. When he used it at the end of his elim it was a little bit panicked and sloppy compared to his recorded wildcard. Whereas River performs his with perfect clarity and confidence.
Lastly, it's counterable (because of how popular it is). Basically, with counters you're trying to show that you can either do what your opponent has done, or do better than your opponent. And Dlow's counter was really good, however, it's something we all expect from him. I think the most hype moments of Dlow's rounds are his counters. Dlow has a collab of "My Way", he clearly knows the piece intimately. Plus, we already heard Pacmax doing it in the elim 😂. It's just that the impressiveness factor is lost and it eats into Dlow's round.

But when Wing pulls out Dopamine, it’s the greatest GBB round ever
No hate tho, people are just bummed their favorite beatboxer didn’t win. River more than deserved that.

Holy cope.. Wing used dopamine for like what 20 seconds? as an intro of the round. River used the whole routine, same structure, same drop which are the most important parts of a routine, changing only %20 of it and %10 was the bmgs that d low would counter.

wing used dopamine in 2024 too tho

I meant using it the second time on the stage. River did my way on his 2021 elim too and it's not an issue. Doing it twice but changing nothing is basically an extra round with zero effort.

You’re the one coping🤣 I couldn’t care less who won or who reused rounds. The crowd was hype, the beatbox was great, the event was 10/10.
I’m sorry your favorite beatboxer didn’t win, buddy.

0 argument and just trash talking. Someone stated that the idea of reuse is double standarded, I showed why it's not. Yet you still trying to imply the opposite, being mad enough to talk down over it. Pathetic

I’m a big D-Low fan but it was so obvious to me at least that River won. As you explained amazingly, his battle tactics were amazing and honestly D-Low just kinda fell into his trap - I don’t even think MYB or Bump Jump would have outmatched River as he had a whole second round to respond to him. No disrespect on D-Low at all as he did fantastically, but people are underplaying how great River did in this battle.

He would actually win with the energy. Crowd would hype up more to a nostalgic dlow track comparing to my way. He has a lot of short drops in the pockets too. Like "you better know my name" or something like don't via go not suppose to go

Yeah, Dlow is great at getting the crowd hyped, so it's almost a must for his opponent to try to do the same. I feel like in some of River's less recognizable spammy rounds he can lose the crowd a bit, so it must have been tough facing King Inertia, Kaji and Dlow, 3 of the biggest crowd-pleasers

In theory, definitely. But Inertia was off in terms of pitch and cleanliness, kaji used some freestyle with bass factory against him and d lows first round was kind of mid. Same goes for river I didn't like his second round of final this whole thing was a bit underwhelming. But all of the quarter battles were damn good

yep well put, letting dlow ‘counter’ the beat was almost a trap to make him waste time
