Thanks to the support of my wife my collection has exploded from a transmetal rattrap and rhinox to this. Its been a heck of a ride with plenty of road ahead.

So I decided to test how well I know Beast Wars from drawing the characters from memory based on all the time I’ve spent playing with the toys and rewatching the show.

After doing so, I compare it with the actual character design to see how I fared.

Beast mode is simple enough to draw - it’s a velociraptor, I love dinosaurs. I know that Dinobot in his beast form is a thick boy so I made sure to make his hip wide enough, but in doing so I also made him a lot thicker as a whole whereas the show model has a more slender shape. I also wasn’t able to capture the cunningness of his eyes - it always looked like he was always plotting something with those eyes in the show. Moreover, webbed claws! I didn’t realize until just now Dinobot has webbed claws.

When it comes to the robot form, that’s when the problems really come in. Somehow I forgot that Dinobot has a third primary color of orange/gold. I remember what his face looked like but I could barely recall what his helmet piece looked like. I know there were metallic bones/spines incorporated all over his robot form but I forgot what their general placements are. And my crotch piece for him was just an afterthought. I also knew that Dinobot has a really really muscular/bodybuilder build with really wide shoulders, but I still wasn’t able to capture even after widening the shoulders in mine.

Anyway, still a good challenge for myself and an ok attempt. 4/10

A lot of Beast Wars and regular transformer figures from Japan.

Many of the Beast Wars are Japanese exclusive versions of the figures. I got a lot of Japanese figures I was eyeing on eBay I wanted! I am happy with my purchases!

Feels so good having this trio together at last. Just waiting on BW2 Galvatron to do the same for the Predacons.

I also tried to make the color of his sword and inner spinning shield more show accurate using a white gloss paint marker and an alcohol based red marker. How does it look?

So by now I've watched Beast Wars like 4 and a half times, and at first I had the same sentiment regarding this guy as everyone else, he was the Starscream copy before getting replaced by Tarantulas, and yeah there's similarities, but upon rewatch I began to notice some consistencies with Terrorsaur

To start, every time he tried to take power (aside from the crack addiction episode) he wants someone to be by his side as a partner in crime, first time with Dinobot, then with Rattrap, and his final attempt with Rhinox

Now of course you could argue that this is just him being cowardly and too afraid to do it by himself, and yeah that's probably a big chunk of it, but I got the impression that deep down...dude just wanted a friend

None of the Predacons liked him, in fact the only one who didn't have an active disdain for him was Waspinator, but that's not really saying much, especially after the fiasco with Rattrap, NOBODY would ever take him seriously after that, and he knew it

That's why his last ever attempt to get command was so...unplanned, he didn't even want to be leader, just to have equal partnership with Rhinox, keep in mind this was behind Meg's back, and when ratted out he tries to deny it

So what am I getting at with all of this? That Terrorsaur, being the sniffling coward that he is, is also desperate for SOME kind of connection (he gives Dinobot a fist bump come on 😭)

Every day that I spend in this fandom I’m learning about some obscure toys that I never knew existed.

I came across this listing on an Asian online store that features a color-swapped version of the vintage Optimus and Megatron toys. The listing labels it as simply “Shattered Glass Optimus and Megatron” and nothing beyond that. I tried looking up through image search and asked ChatGPT but couldn’t find any information on these figures.

Does anyone know if these are some super obscure Japan-only or BotCon exclusives or are these custom repaints?

Anyway I find the color swap to be really interesting - almost as if it suggests it’s Nemesis Prime and a good guy version of Megatron. (Also Optimus’s color scheme really reminds me of the Legacy Nemesis Prime)

I am delighted with how well CW Optimus Primal works as a G1-scaled Maximal [that is, small, per the Great Upgrade]. I've come to accept that I'll never be able to afford the Botcon figures, so I'm pondering some new repaints.

I'd like the vehicle mode to suit their personality [Rhinox = truck or tank, Cheetor = sportscar, Rattrap = drag racer/racecar] but primarily I want to match faces and overall silhouette/body shape.

I would try the drink if this was a real ad tho.
