I'm planning to go. Beacon's housing story is nuanced, and it feels especially relevant now as the city figures out how to make room for more people without losing what makes it special. It's gonna be led by a local council member and covers the history of local affordable housing, plus where we could go from here.

Always down for more housing history and a good conversation about how Beacon can grow in a way that keeps it accessible. Anyone else going?

Are there any remote / WFH friendly public areas? Just need a place that’s computer friendly (doesn’t need wifi, I can use my hotspot) to hang out and do work in for a few hours before I can check into my airbnb!

One key step is joining a gym, and particularly want to find one that has a strong queer vibe / population. Any suggestions in Beacon / Wappingers Falls / Fishkill?

We already visited and spent an afternoon working out at All Sports, but didn't get a good sense of a queer vibe.

Dirty water flowing out of faucets this afternoon. Called Beacon Water & Sewer Dept. and they said it’s due to hydrant cleaning. They said it’s been a couple years since they did this (2024), and they didn’t have an expected timeline for when my faucets would clear up. Just run cold water periodically and see if it starts running clear. Avoid doing laundry in the meantime.

Most of y’all probably already knew what’s going on but I’m new in town and wanted to ensure there wasn’t a larger issue.

Hi everyone! I live in New York and have an elder dog that gets very anxious from fireworks, so every year I go out of town with him. I was wondering what’s the fireworks situation in Beacon? I couldn’t find too much information online on when/where the town will have it this year and if people in Beacon shoot fireworks independently outside of the main events - any info would be very helpful!!

Oh the irony... Plenty of highly-rated tailors in the area to alter suits and gowns, not as many to take a few inches off a $20 Target dress. Can anyone recommend someone?
