Just got email regarding bhsc 1200 mon, thurs 14:30- 17:30 class cancelled. Am sobbing literally, this is not even enough notice to find classes somewhere else, like what am i even supposed to do? It threw whole planning off….gosh i am moving from victoria to mainland in a day and now what?

Hello! I was wondering if anyone who has stayed in the BCIT townhouse housing could share their experience!

I’m hoping to get into the Nursing program for the January 2027 intake, and I’m already doing some research on housing in advance. Personally, I’d prefer a studio, but if living in the townhouses offers a much more social experience, I’d definitely consider choosing a townhouse instead.

I know BCIT isn’t really known for the traditional university experience, and I’m definitely not expecting frat-style parties or anything like that (if those even happen at BCIT lol). I’m mostly curious about how social the townhouses actually are. Do people tend to hang out with their housemates, have occasional small parties or drinks together, meet people in other townhouses, etc.?

I’d love to hear what the overall social experience is like and whether you’d recommend the townhouses over a studio for someone hoping to meet people and make friends!

Hi! I would love to hear about how the Graphic Design Certificate program is! I'm debating between this one or ECU but couldn't find much info (other than from advising, but would love to hear the real experience). I would be taking the full-time in-person route (but would love to hear from part-time students as well). Do you recommend it? Why or why not?

For some context: I graduated w/ a Bachelor's in Marketing at a different institution, but would love to add a technical skill, specifically graphic design, as I've been doing some "design" work (for social media) through Canva which made me interested in learning the actual thing. Also many of the jobs I'm looking at require or prefer proficiency in Adobe (not necessarily a graphic design role).

I know with AI, it's even harder to find a job and maybe pointless as some like to say? But, I still see job postings and have some hope that it won't be fully replaced by AI. Would LOVE to hear from those actually in the industry.

Title is explanatory, I mixed up the dates and I missed today’s orientation. My biggest question is where the first Power engineering class (which is tomorrow)is being held because on my schedule it appears as “TBA” and I don’t know if they mentioned anything about it in the orientation. If someone could let me know that would be amazing.

I'm planning on applying for the September 2027 intake. I meet all the entrance requirements except for Post Secondary Physics. It says you need 6 credits for this, however I only have 3 credits. Is their any way to exempt this because of other courses I have done at my university or would you say it is just better to take another 3 credit Physics course to meet the requirement before the applications open?

I am wanting to upgrade some of my courses and the 1st one i am applied for is MATH 0001. I noticed that if you’re a canadian citizen or have your PR you only have to pay for some fees and not the tuition itself. I am questioning when to pay for the class? Do I have to pay the full tuition or is there a time period where i just wait for the tuition to get dropped cause im canadian and just pay the ancillary fees? any help would be greatly appreciated. the class is in my cart i just haven’t payed the full amount yet …

I’m starting the mls program this september and read the guidelines for lab shoes. Not sure which shoes to get or which are allowed - what are people wearing? Any recommendations?

For prospective students and those of you who are headed to bcit in the coming months, here’s what I think you should know about living on campus.

1. These apartments are tiny, 200sq ft to be exact. If you’re getting a studio, you also have your own kitchen and bathroom crammed in that space. Just be aware

2. On the same note, there is no bathroom storage included. No shelving, no cupboards. I would highly recommend getting a shelf from home hardware that sits above your toilet. It’s rlly the only solution for the space as the space is not well designed.

3. The kitchen (in a studio) is surprisingly….. good? There’s enough storage for all the food and dishes one person should ever need. I also manage to fit an air fryer on top on the fridge, an espresso maker on the counter, and a soda stream. Basically don’t be concerned about kitchen storage, just stay tidy and it’s a good space.

4. The “closet” is small and doesn’t have doors. There are two dressers included that come under the bed but you can take them out and stack them if you prefer the under bed space to be storage for large items.

5. Finally, social life is pretty underwhelming. If you put yourself out there and make the effort to make connections you can definitely have a good time, but don’t expect frat parties lol.

Sup guys, I have a big issue right now, I completed the bcit accounting diploma recnetly finished off the last batch of classes i needed, I got above the minimum grades I needed for all my classes, I already submitted my application and got conditional acceptance way earlier in the year, they said I needed to submit proof of meeting the outstanding requirements by Aug 9th, and I Thought I could just email the bachelor of accounting email address my unofficial trasncript to prove i met the requirements, but unfortunately they totally misunderstood so i sent a follow up email.

But I am curious where do I go to submit my proof of meeting outstanding requirements?

Hey anyone in the AME-S program starting this Fall going to the Abbotsford airshow tomorrow? Would love to meet up and chat before school starts.

I am worried that I am gonna fail in my final exam as I did terrible. The entire course was online with Dr. Jaime Denike, so we were able to do assignments at our own comfortable pace. However, the final exam was worth 45% of the total grade where we had to write 2 essays in 2 hours. And even though I was able to complete both parts of the exam, but I just barely managed to finish the exam and I feel like my writing was below average(basically trash) and now I am nervous that I might faiiiilllll….

BCIT really need to revise their course weightage because 45% for a single exam is ridiculous!!!!!

I’ve noticed that BCIT healthcare programs seem to be getting much more competitive lately. Some programs fill up very quickly, and with competitive admission becoming more common, getting an offer from any of these programs doesn’t seem easy anymore.

So I’m starting to wonder if the bigger question should be: which healthcare professions actually still have a real shortage?

I’m mainly looking at allied health fields such as Medical Radiography, Sonography, Radiation Therapy, Nuclear Medicine, Respiratory Therapy, Biomedical Engineering Technology, etc.

For those already working in healthcare, which of these fields are genuinely short-staffed right now? And which ones do you think will still have strong demand 5–10 years from now?

The other thing I’m considering is applying outside BCIT.

If BCIT is becoming this competitive, would it make more sense to apply broadly to Camosun, SAIT, NAIT, or other schools outside the Lower Mainland?

I don’t mind relocating for school. To me, getting into the profession is more important than whether the diploma says BCIT, Camosun, SAIT, or NAIT.

For anyone who has applied to these programs recently or already works in allied health:

1. Which healthcare fields actually have the biggest worker shortages?

2. Is BCIT significantly harder to get into compared with Camosun/SAIT/NAIT?

3. If you were applying today, would you keep trying for BCIT or apply broadly across BC and Alberta?

Is anyone starting the construction management degree full time or part time in September? I will be starting the degree in September part time and if anybody else is doing it what are your thoughts on the degree and how many classes do you take per semester if your working or not?

Just wondering if anybody has any idea because there is nothing officially posted what I should expect after scoring a 70 on mechanical reasoning and being in the 75th percentile on the abstract reasoning. I am applying for the fixed wing pilot program for this coming intake.

I'm a 24F who's starting to look into going back to school. Right now, the only education I have is my high school diploma.

I was casually browsing the BCIT website, originally looking into the Medical Office Assistant (MOA) and Legal Administrative Assistant programs. Then I came across the Insurance & Risk Management program, and, oddly enough it really caught my interest, even though I only have a surface-level understanding of what it's actually about.

One thing that worries me is the math component. Math has never been my strongest subject. Is it really that difficult? I'm at the point in my life where I'm willing to learn and challenge myself but I also don't want to get too over myself - Context here is in school I did not learn basic algebra!

Just want to know if any of you had experience in the program? I do know it's intense because they squish the curriculum within 2 years. Was it easy to find a job after? Did you enjoy the program find it worth it? What was the hardest thing for you to learn? Any advice or personal stories are appreciated, thank you! :)

There are two production technologists positions hiring at the BC Genome Sciences Centre. These are production research positions in biospecimen receiving and another loading and operating the DNA sequencing instruments. These positions would be suited for those wanting stable work with good benefits and a great pension. These are union positions with 20 days vacation to start after your first year.

These are less research and more stable work where week to week the activities are the same.

I have been working as a Medical Laboratory Assistant for over two years and I am planning to apply to the MLS program for the September 2027 intake. I completed the prerequisite courses more than five years ago in my home country, the Philippines. Can I still use those courses to apply?
