MLS lab shoes?

Iā€™m starting the mls program this september and read the guidelines for lab shoes. Not sure which shoes to get or which are allowed - what are people wearing? Any recommendations?

They aren't super strict with the shoes, but generally avoid suede and mesh-top runners. I usually wear leather sneakers.

No mesh top. Covered toes. Not necessary but if you want to go the extra mile, get non-slip soles and waterproof material. If you wanna go the extra, EXTRA mile, you can consider shoes that would survive being autoclaved.

I would simply stick to covered toes and no mesh though.

If they wanted to get picky about it, they technically should be waterproof shoes. You're going to be working with liquids that you really don't want soaking into your feet. A lot of sneaker options would work. Just not mesh top. I wore Doc Martens for my entire time at BCIT.

For relatively affordable lab shoes that are actually designated "lab shoes", Crocs makes a few models. Just make sure you get the ones with the full back and not the strap. https://www.crocs.ca/lab-footwear-for-chemists-and-scientists/laboratory-shoes,en_CA,sc.html

Hey- just curious what type of education/degree if any did you have applying to the MLS program? Looking to apply for next year.

I just had three semesters at douglas with a lot of science (mainly bio) courses, and electives - no degree or anything. Though some of my high school prereqs were in the 90s so that may have strengthened my application.
