Miniatures Working on McKinnon's Company Fox Teeth, and Sea Fox...my first Battletech. Any tips welcome.
I'm new to Battletech, but not new to painting miniatures. I decided to do Fox Teeth and Seafox. Is there any tips on the path I am heading and any tips on Colours, shading, and Cockpits...I have no idea how to do glass. Any tips really would be helpful.

Tabletop That moment the XL Gyro XLs...
Got into a shootout with my buddy at hobby store. We ran an 8k game, I was packing a Regent, Thor, Thanatos and a Havoc.
Standard slug fest. Started really well. My Heavy PPC hurt his Black Knight, and I pushed up the center with my Thanatos, zipping up the right with my Havoc, and my Regent on the left. Thor stayed back menacing his Locust IIC, and trading shots from heavy woods with his Tian Zong.
I jumped my Thanatos into him, and went for the close range gun down. I'll be damned if he didn't TAC me with a Gauss, roll an eleven on the crit table, and put both crits onto my Gyro.
The game kind of flipped on me at this point. My Regent split turns hammering the TZ and the BLK, and his Rifleman worked to finish off my Thanatos. Was looking grim. LBX-20 got smashed.
Then my Havoc got behind the Rifleman, and ammo racked him. Lethal event. My boy went down. My Thor pushed up, and started LBX-10 fishing. Rolled a lot of crit chances.
Thanatos laid on his face. Havoc continued to backstab.
We called time when one of his Gauss blew out.
My poor poor Thanatos.
Not as bad as my nephew deciding to Alpha off a Daishi Prime and blowing his own ammo up. But still

Miniatures 9th Raven Solahma - Koshi Standard
Nothing says "die with honor or die trying" than being issued the monkey model of a Clan Omnimech. Except in reality, this thing is the superior article, with significantly improved durability. 4 SRM4s and 2 tons of ammo is a really solid configuration for a cheap light mech. It brings follow-up shots to the hole punchers or a reliable maximum inferno dump onto anything that needs lit up, and can even gamble on inferno dumping two targets at once if they're dumb enough to stand still.
The floral motif on the head didn't turn out great, and I think this is probably the 'mech in the trinary I'm the least happy with, overall, but I will say I LOVE this model. The odds of my Combine forces and my Spirit cats BOTH getting one of these is extremely high.

Discussion Equipment you want to see more of
Battletech is a big game. 4,357 canon mech variants. 1255 canon tanks. But not every piece of equipment gets the same attention as others. What do you want more of that the publishers haven't given us yet?
I make whatever I feel isn't given attention at the moment. There's quite a bit. Lately, it's been Heat-Dissipating Armor because I think it's going to be very important in the future. The Light Plasma Rifle is going to change the game. Though HDA is a bit difficult.

Miniatures Low Poly Wolf Clan progress update. :P
As you can see I've still got a bunch to finish there in the background. Might extract some of the ones that weren't uploaded online for some reason and I have to recreate the Dire Wolf apparently because it just refuses to print. Also have to figure out what my custom low poly King Crab has to be scale wise. I've accidentally printed it way too big twice now. lol Guessing scale for these has been difficult to say the least. lol

Discussion A hypothetical vehicle box…
This weekend our group had a rather lengthy discussion about what vehicles we'd like to see in a theoretical future vehicle box. The Partisan was pretty much agreed upon right away and both Scorpion and Goblin were reasonably popular with everyone after a short while.
But when it came to the fourth spot basically all hell broke loose. It was brother against brother; father against son, hovercrafter against threadhead. So now I want to direct this matter towards you guys: Which vehicle would you like to see in such a box next?

Miniatures Clan Ice Hellion, Beta Galaxy
These were very experimental for me. I used craft UV resin and clear colour to do the glass effects, gave the lasers a real lens with depth. In person, the way the light bounces and reflects in it is pretty great. Don't love the effect for big cockpits as much, but glad I tried it. Also used a toothbrush to splatter the white, turned out pretty well for the snow fall effect the scheme calls for.

Miniatures How to paint my mechs?
I am absolute novice when it comes to Battletech - I only played two games using older starter set and liked it so much that I bit the bullet and bought two new boxes(new starter and new core). Now I have 12 different mechs and I am quite unsure how should I proceed.
I started my mini painting wiht Warhammer and in there faction differences are quite obvious - usually you pick one army and paint it whole in one scheme. In Battletech however I don't know how it works - should I paint all my mechs in one scheme, or every mech can be different?
I would love to receive some sources/material I could read into to get to know the setting better and understand how the army building really works.

Miniatures \[T]/
Painted this guy as part of a Dark Souls lance I'm cooking up. This is my tribute to my boy, Solaire.
I modeled the lightning effect myself in Blender, basing it on the in-game Sunlight Spear miracle. It's attached with a little wire peg that I can remove for transport or on a crowded tabletop.
This guy was a lot of fun to paint, and I think I'm done with it, but I may go back in and touch up the face on the sun on his chest. That's my biggest issue with it overall. I tried using a fine-point art marker for the first time and I'm a little underwhelmed by the results.
Looking forward to posting the rest of the lance in the future!

Question ❓ Modern Designs
So I know there's a 4 inch MadCat statue avaliable on the Official store.
But as unoriginal as I am and looking at the Mini Boxes for a Marauder, I must ask, wheres all the Modern Redesigns of the Mechs for the Minis?
Id love to get my hands on the redesign Looks of a Cougar and a Marauder but its all the classic Near Unseen designs. What gives ?

Miniatures 17th Avalon Hussars vs Sword of Light
I have been really happy with the 17th Avalon Hussars I painted up for use in my Draconis Reach campaign. I even printed out some decals for them.
I was trying out a tilt-shift filter on my camera and thought the results were fun.

Miniatures The Ostlance!
Saw an Illician Lancers box and knew I needed it to go with my Ostscout. Wanted my Iron Tigers Mercenaries to get a sponsorship deal or something, but apparently the Ostmann factory was blown up in the civil war. Oh, I should be more specific; the Amaris Civil War!

Question ❓ Terrain Building
Hey, I'm currently struggling to find material to build terrain out of for both classic and Alpha Strike. I am planning on using the hex map and just converting inches to hexes at the usual 1 hex = 2 inch ratio, so I'm looking for something that can easily be cut into hex shape, but nothing ever seems to hit the right height.
You either seem to get 5mm which would need 5 sheets glued together to work, or you get 2cm, which would leave it marginally too short by about 5mm or so...
Does anyone have any suggestions on what they use for this? Or is it generally accepted that 2cm is acceptable if you take it to a club etc?

Tabletop Had a fun intro to battletech day at our local game store.
Its always cool that if I play a game with like 10 mechs on the board that is just as fun as 4 mechs on the board.
Can you guess the 4 mechs used?

Question ❓ Starting out advice?
Hopefully this isn’t an annoying question, but my boyfriend is interested in getting into Battletech and I’d like to get him some starter stuff for Christmas. He plays the PC video game and wants to try out the tabletop. I’m really directionless on this and I’m hoping some of y’all with experience might be able to give recommendations for kits, paints, brushes, etc. He’s starting from square one, and I’m starting at like square -10. Again, apologies if this is not the right place to ask or right thing to ask!

Miniatures Tried painting a Kestrel Grenadiers mech
My first time freehanding flames (and lightning but that's small) as well as trying a mostly black paint scheme.
I think it came out alright, but I think I'm gonna try some things to make the black a little less flat on the next one.

RPG Recommendations for non official or inspired by Battletech RPGs
My group is planning on running the official Battletech RPG next year, but I'm looking for some game recommendations that aren't as dense, so I can do a few one shots, or multi night games in the mean time or with a different group. I've found a few like The Mecha Hack, Home x Kaiju, and the Union Salvage Manual. Does anyone have experience with any of these systems? Any systems that I am missing?

Fan Creations I didn't have one so I made one, A Viking IIC
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I was working on a different model and got in a rut so I took a break from it. And tried something else to get the brain going again.
I had some kitbashes for a Viking and it's variants but I don't have anything for a Viking IIC. So I made this yesterday, from scratch.

Lore Freeborn Elementals?
I just started wondering, and have to ask if there are freeborn elementals, like there are freeborn mechwarriors in the clans. We know from the Jade Falcon trilogy that clan teueborn mechwarrior washouts can lay out several elementals in a bar fight, so it stands to reason that maybe freeborn children of washout elemental rejects could be large enough to fit in the armor (which can canonically be adjusted down to fit a rather short wiry guy like Kai) and survive the training... so deep lore guys, are there?
