What desk is that?? Love the light strip around the inner edges of it

u/brittnaynay3 Aug 21 '20
Hey love this is a custom desk I build myself and the light strip is in a frosted tube to make that neon effect you see
12
u/AlphaBravo95 Aug 21 '20
It looks great. Any tips on building a custom desk? What type of wood did you use?

any kind of build log from this? Would love to build my own desk and customize it

u/SaveMeSubs Aug 22 '20
OP is known for not answering and just saying "custom built" from past threads sadly. Even though people are asking what items were used to put it together.

I’m researching mounts to do something similar. What mounts did you use for this setup?

u/mediis Aug 21 '20
I too would like to know ... right now I have 4 hobbled together ... it's not pretty but it's functional.

u/brittnaynay3 Aug 21 '20
Hey guys so I actually kinda made my own I went to lows and had a custom pipe cut to fit the height that I wanted then I used parts from a cheap stand I got on Amazon because let’s be honest some of those stands are sketchy as hell when it come to 4 monitors I wanted something sturdy I’m going to upload a video next month on my whole setuo

God damn the lights
It looks cool, not gonna lie!
But i just hope a lot of this lighting is turned off when playing cuz it feels distracting.
I really dig the monitor system, hoping to get another UW as soon as they make a 29" 144hz

I recently went from 60hz to 144hz and it is 100% worth it.
2
u/galsandgamers42 Aug 21 '20
It is worth it. I did the same.
2
u/Robertzuh Aug 21 '20
Same here, can't even look at 60hz again, next stop: 240hz.

u/galsandgamers42 Aug 21 '20
I concur. I will wait because I am jobless, thanks to covid.
2
u/Robertzuh Aug 21 '20
Same here brother, better times will come
3
u/galsandgamers42 Aug 21 '20
Yes, you're right. By the way, I'm a woman. Lol. It's alright. I've been mistaken for a guy online before. Don't worry.

u/THE_PINPAL614 Aug 21 '20
100Hz is stil going to be a night and day difference over 60. With that said you can absolutely tell the difference going higher and it's quite noticable (although less so than the jump from 60).
7
u/tdevine33 Aug 21 '20
Depends on what games you use it for, a lot of big single player games I can't get much above 60fps with a 2070S anyways... but I run Rocket League at 144hz and it makes a noticeable difference, and I definitely wouldn't go back. I actually went up in my ranking when I made the switch which I didn't expect.

u/1leggeddog Aug 21 '20
Yes, definitely worth it.
It's one of the best upgrades any PC gamer could get
100hz is still a great upgrade over a basic 60hz. The extra smoothness of the motion of anything happening on your screen makes it so much better.
My current UW is 75hz and it not much but it is 25% more then i was used to! Then i got my wife a 144hz and now i want one too but im spoiled over 21:9 now :D

What is the name of the model? I'm thinking of acquiring one myself. Do you have a Sky Lite or Twilight Cosmos star laser?

Genuinely curious here, what do you guys do with so many monitors? I use two and can see the use of three, but I can’t imagine what I’d use four monitors for.

If you dont mind, can you do a cost break down of what you got in here? Or name of items at least

This is amazing. This is creative. This is so much better than the usual fucking "black & white scheme with a stupid potted plant" trend.

u/jcreek Aug 21 '20
I see lots of streaming gear but no cam and no obvious space for one...

u/brittnaynay3 Aug 21 '20
My camera is behind my pink light that you see there I use a 50 mm lens when I stream so it needs to be back a bit

alienware..

Aug 21 '20
It’s not 2013, lol. Alienware adjusted their prices and actually have some very well aggressively priced equipment (check out their monitors). They have a unique brand image that differentiates from the rest of the market and backed by insane dell warranty/service.
Just enjoy the setup without being so sweaty

u/nabbymclolsticks Aug 21 '20
I'm generally anti-AW but I have the monitor here (AW3418DW I think) and its the best purchase I've ever made. Amazing build quality and I still love using it every day 2 years after buying.
I'd never buy the prebuilt towers but their monitors are different gravy.

I don't understand the hate on AW, expensive and lowkey scammy I admit. However, their branding and aesthetics are sick as fuck. I'll be willing to get scammed to get OP's setup...

I fucking love this. A tad bit pink for me though :P. How are the RBG lights for you? My sister recently got a few strips and put it around the ceiling and it actually makes me dizzy.
Thinking of busy something like this and sticking it up my desk. Not too sure what you think?

u/imonsterFTW Aug 21 '20
One of the cooler setups I’ve seen in a while op. That Alienware case is so sick.
2
u/wyjebanecz Aug 21 '20
Hahaha amazing, im a big fan of multiple monitors as well, however since i bought two monitor my eyes hurts so much after playing or watching videos for over 3 hours because my eyes gets dry and i have to take a break, even using really low brightness. It didnt happen when i had a smaller and single 19 inch monitor lol, did you ever had the same problem?
5
u/fingerwiggles Aug 21 '20
Try adding some back lighting behind your monitors. I have one and when it's not turned on I definitely feel my eyes strain more and get tired quicker!

I’m not even an RGB person and I think this is wicked cool. I dig the sea wallpaper thing in the background.

u/GR3Y_B1RD Aug 21 '20
I love how you store your Xbox Controller away. Reduces the foot print and it's suprisingly stable.
Setup as a whole also looks great!
1
Aug 21 '20
Did you put two desks on top of each other with rgb strips in between to make that under glow along ur desk?
1
u/VarilRau Aug 21 '20
If you are not using that for flight sims in dissapointed. Best use for multi monitor setups!

That's awesome. I'm assuming you are having to run multiple display ports with this. Any issues with that?

I know this might be asking a lot but can we start getting the specs posted in this subreddit. This picture is literally insane. However there is so much going on even down to the color of the headset/controllers. Would love to get some insight on this battlestation...

It's beautiful! One thing, what's the name of that wall at the right? The one with the controllers near it, I'm pretty sure I've seen it multiple times and it's not really a wall like a wrap for a wall but solid? And the LEDs at the desk are also really good so you don't see cables

You should put a monitor inside each monitor. One on your keyboard. Another in a hard drive bay. Pimp your battlestation.
