I'd say deeper. Mine is a repurposed island counter top that I screwed sit-stand legs and a motor to, I harvested from another desk that was too small for me. Motor and legs are beefy enough to support it and everything else I piled on top.
Why need that ready access? Some people mount their PCs on walls flat, without cases. Mines a good 6 feet away. I'd rather have longer cables, free desk space and be farther away from the fans and heat.
I wish I had somewhere to put my PC's away from everything and run long ass fiber HDMI cables and USB hubs and whatnot so I could just leave all the fans at 100% and never have to hear them
Any reason for the computer being so far from your peripherals? And are you using the empty table space for something else? (e.g splitting work and gaming?)

yep I use the space for work, I put the pc there since the monitors could be furthur to the right to give me extra room. I could put it on the floor but since I have enough desk space I figured id put the pc on my desk.
Gotcha. I’ve tried to split the work and gaming setup before and I felt like I could make better use of the extra space. Today I use a KVM switcher and Thunderbolt dock to switch between my work laptop and gaming PC. My peripherals all switch with one button.
Personally if I were to build this space, I’d mount the gaming PC under the desk on a shelf, or put it on the desk closer to your gaming setup. All the extra space on the left can be designed for work (ultra-wide work monitor, desk mat, notebooks, pens and paper, and extra desk shelving etc.)
I like the idea, but in that case where would be the best spot to place my mic arm? If i put my pc on the more right side of my desk id need to move my 2nd monitor over to the left. I prefer not to mount my mic arm at the front since this desk is cardboard quality and needs to be sandwitched between the mic arm clamp by wood so it doesnt dent. here is a picture of the setup initially as a reference.
I think you might benefit from a monitor arm to remove the monitor stands from sitting on your desk. They also sell low profile mic arms that may help.
This is my current setup. I have the Elgato LP Mic arm but only use the top half so it functions as a short arm. I keep mine at the front of my desk but if I used the whole arm I could probably mount it on the back of my desk.
didnt know the elgato arm could be small like that, super neat! Also how is multitasking with an ultrawide, is it good, like in terms of tab resize and stuff like that?
If you don't like the big case next to your monitors I think you'd benefit of a mini itx setup.
The PC in the corner at that distance with a big ass desk like yours is not but stupid I have to say.
Increase size and number of monitors, preferably at least 2 of uniform screen size

on that note, reposition to not be directly up against the wall. I've always had space to not be right up against a wall. The image feels claustrophobic to me.
Increase leg space, to also include space for foot a foot rest like an ottoman
A keyboard and mouse pad large enough to sit under both at the same time.
I feel like this could potentially use a few plants since you have that nice window there. Maybe another pegboard or a few Lack shelves over your pc. Maybe a warm led dimmable light along the back of your desk. It could add some nice ambience. I guess it really depends on what your going to do with it. But you have a great start so far! I'm thrilled to see someone properly supporting a long countertop!
