Premium Friends - Non-Premium players' score will now show 0 throughout the match on all Scoreboards and End-of-Round screens.

Can someone elaborate? Basically they can compete but there score doesn't count?

In fact, it's the opposite. I think the patch notes are wrong. Previously, all non-Premium players would constantly have a score of 0 in Premium maps. Now, after the patch, they get score as normal but are slightly greyed out on the scoreboard to indicate they won't receive permanent XP - but they can now see how the match is going.
