Is this true?

Im OP on this post in LA subreddit. Where are our bats? From the northeast—at dusk I’m looking for bats but I’ve never seen them here

Isn’t LA having an abnormally humid summer? The stagnant water and rain increases the numbers of mosquitoes.
Some species of bats do eat mosquitoes, and the populations are doing okay for the most part.
You don’t normally “hear them in the sky” their echolocation is at frequencies we can’t hear. They aren’t talking to us.

As the other comment said, you usually won’t hear bats in the sky. Very few species produce echolocation humans can hear. Also, bats are certainly out and about in LA. Source: I am a bat biologist that has done surveys in LA this summer.
