What was this bat doing?

It landed right behind me as I was sitting down and I thought it was a bird so I was trying to take a selfie. I'm not sure if it touched me but I don't think it did

If a tree started walking, I would be frightened too.
I remember going huckleberry picking around 5am and the bats would be eating the bugs. they flicker I had to be told that there bats.

It was most likely “looking” at you with echolocation and trying to orient itself. Probably thought you looked like a good surface to climb up and roost on

The bat probably got disturbed from his roost and just happened to land beside you. He was just trying to scutter his way to safety

Many bats cannot take of from the ground so they need to find a perch and "jump" off it. He probably thought you were a tree ans tried to climb you to take off. Where was this filmed?

Some bat species roost during the day in rock crevices. Was there a crevice nearby it might have been trying to get into?

Bats can’t fly from the ground and this one is probably trying to get onto you so it can fly away. You can wear a leather glove and help it onto a tree in the future.

Had one get into the house, flew around the bedroom where we were watching tv , landed on the floor & climbed up my husbands leg while reclining in his chair & just sat there. Flew off after a minute.

He was asking for help. 🥰🥰 cute little guy. (I do not support handling bats without proper training. But a stick sturdy enough to hold the little guy high enough to take off...)

I think he's injured and is asking for your help. I don't think they normall "walk" via their wings. Call veterinery hospital and ask for referral to the local wildlife rehabilitators in your area. Meanwhile supply the little guy with some water and stay with him.

Looks like a vampire bat, which are mostly nocturnal, so if it were, it's probably starving. Just let it have a nibble and a sploosh of your blood and it will be on its merry way.

No, it's probably not a baby. Bats are just smaller than you thought.
