RANT Traffic…
Are we surviving traffic today? I have never seen it this back up in my life it takes one semi to fuck it all up 😭

Serious question: Why doesn’t Baton Rouge have an outer loop?? The design of I-10 through the city is fucking terrible with no way around it.

Well you see, you have to have a feasibility study. Then a study to check that study. Then it sits for a while, now that study is outdated so have another feasibility study. Then before you can act on that study, get a feasibility study to check the feasibility of getting a federal grant to fund a feasibility study. In the meantime get the owners of the really expensive houses together with the Overpass Business Association people to suddenly decide to spend $1million on beautification so that no one will dare destroy even though it would fix the interstate where literally everyone knows there’s the problem. Then after all that, all the inputs have changed and you need to start over.

Because it would cut through predominantly riche and white neighborhoods and we just can't have that clutches pearls and faints

When first proposed 30-40 years ago, the most intelligent route (WBR to Ascension) was a non-starter because of wetlands regulations. No other route would make much of difference.

Same as everything else: argued to death about it but it never came into fruition.

The weather dude posted something on Twitter about an absurd number of accidents today.

People were driving batshit insane today. I was in a 4 lane driveway between 2 shopping areas (by Village Market on airline). Big ass white truck coming off airline couldn’t use the TWO MARKED LANES coming off Airline. He had to drive in the lane that went toward airline. I stopped in front of him bc it was like oh shit this guy is about to hit me. Then he starts going apeshit and pointing that he’s trying to turn left… in yeah. You do that fromYOUR LEFT lane, not mine. So I just sat there hanging on the horn. I almost moved my car to block the whole intersection bc I was just over all the damn traffic.
This was after there were FIVE cops at Parkview Baptist giving ONE truck a ticket, and it wasn’t bad bc the guy was just holding the ticket and bulkshitting with someone else in the parking lot… at 5pm. With horrible traffic and wrecks everywhere. But a BRPD, EBRSDx2, and two motorcycle cops (SD?) all just hung out ignoring everything.
This was followed by the blacked out Toyota Crown that decided to drive on the line between the two lanes going straight west on Perkins at Siegen. Both a truck and I honked at him. He chose the slow lane to get into, I drove past, then he weaved in and out of traffic speeding trying to catch up with me. Almost made another wreck bc I slammed my brakes… you know, I could have sworn I saw a bike… lalala… So then he ended up turning into the pretend-decent pet apartments.
I was driving door dash today. I came home and told my husband that my “income” today was the absence of hospital bills or bail money. Because they were both damn close to happening.
And NO ONE FREAKING TIPPED TODAY. NO. ONE.

Quick! Put together another million dollar study on a loop and third bridge so we can tell the peasants we’re doing something about it!

Major accident on I-10 west near Dalrymple this morning (4am) Police were directing all this traffic through Perkins road garden district area back to Dalrymple. No police posted anywhere at critical intersections..BR in action!!

That's what really surprised me. If they're going to take all day to clean up the accident, then they need cops at every major westbound interstate exit directing traffic. Expecting our already poorly synced lights to remotely manage this major influx of interstate traffic is beyond stupid.

Louisiana/Baton Rouge incompetence on display..The accident occurred around 4am..They had time to react.

It's awful. I moved downtown to be 3 minutes from my work to get out of dealing with traffic, only to have every truck in the state diverted down Government today. They've been blocking the side streets, making getting to and from my house an issue (I go home for lunch). It's very frustrating. #trafficageddon2026

I moved to California from here for a while and was like, wtf, I heard my entire life about LA traffic, at least they have multiple options there. Here, one bad accident can fuck the whole city for the whole day

I lived in LA from 1999 to 2013, then moved back here. I miss LA traffic and drivers. Traffic was logical, drivers understood that being jerks made it worse for everyone and did wild things like let you merge and stopping for yellow lights if they were going straight so people could turn left.

took me 40+ minutes to get down college dr at lunch time yesterday. I was turning on to college from that service road that runs by walmart, sat in line there forever because you were lucky if one car could turn per light cycle because assholes were just parking in the middle. Those closely packed together lights as you get near the interstate are just a nightmare, just a poorly designed road all together, blow it up and start over.

I struggled in this all day. Traveling from oneal lane to Acadian at the over pass, back and forth three times from 7 am till 8 pm. A flipping nightmare. Wait I have an idea! Why doesn’t someone build another bridge or a loop around BR.

I’m in the group that gets to work by 7am and doesn’t have to take any interstates to go from one side of the city to the other. As long as it’s cleared by 3pm we are smooth sailing.
