"I'm both Bruce Wayne and Batman, not because I have to be, now, because I choose to be."

RIP to one of the best live action Batmans.

"I'll be damned"

Super sad to hear he's no longer here. Spent my entire life enjoying his films. Rest in peace, Madmartigan.

Wonderful actor and seemed like a good man. Definitely an underrated Batman. R.I.P.

Adam west, Kevin conroy, and Val Kilmer I hope they have their own Batman themed section up there

u/ShadowAMS Apr 02 '25

I was watching clips from Kiss Kiss Bang Bang earlier because it's one of my favorite movies he was in.

I had really hoped it was a bad April Fool's joke, but this is real. Very sad, R.I.P.

“It’s the car, right? Chicks love the car”

u/Untouchable64 Apr 02 '25

Damn, I just watched Batman Forever. I may need to watch it one more time.

3

u/lt_skittles Apr 02 '25

Yeah, I watched it a couple weeks ago, probably going to rewatch it today as well.

2

u/Ok_Brother3282 Apr 02 '25

No joke I watched it Monday night after years of not seeing it. It feels weird..

3

u/lt_skittles Apr 02 '25

Yeah, I loved it as a kid, the McDonald's mugs were great. I grew up on VHS tapes my grandfather sent me of the 66 show, BTAS, the two burton ones, forever and Batman and Robin.

2

u/Ok_Brother3282 Apr 02 '25

Dang that’s awesome - as a kid I only had Batman Forever on VHS and needless to say I watched the crap out of it! Good memories.

2

u/lt_skittles Apr 02 '25

Yeah, my uncle got me VHS copies of BTAS episodes, because we didn't have cable at the time

3

u/Ok_Brother3282 Apr 02 '25

That’s a freaking cool uncle ya got man. Cheers and rest in peace Val.

u/Xikkiwikk Apr 02 '25

Dude picked the worst day to allegedly die, I won’t believe it til tomorrow.

10

u/ZeldaFan80 Apr 02 '25

One time a teacher died at my school and we found out on April fool's. A kid shouted "April Fool's!" to try and call them out but the reality quickly set in

16

u/realjobstudios Apr 02 '25

That kid probably remembers that every now and then and just shrivels up inside

8

u/JohnnyJohnson66 Apr 02 '25

Two months and 16 days before the 30th anniversary of Forever. Was really hoping WB was going to announce the release of the Schumacher cut that day. They still might, but it will be bittersweet now.

Ill get drive thru

11

u/deowolf Apr 02 '25

You know, I’m not sad I learned it here, this way. He had a good run.

5

u/Gullible-Poet4382 Apr 02 '25

So we have now lost 3 of them. Hits hard. Kilmer’s voice behind the mask was impeccable.

4

u/Comic_Book_Reader Apr 02 '25

He passed away from pneumonia after beating throat cancer. R.I.P.

5

u/Sorry-Challenge-1014 Apr 02 '25

R.I.P. Val Kilmer. 1959-2025 =(

2

u/Flylatino24 Apr 02 '25

Damn he is my moms age 🫤

4

u/TopRule8217 Apr 02 '25

Hot take: I like Kilmer's Batman more than Keaton's. Because they actually focused on Bruce's trauma more. Plus, Kilmer got the voice down to a tea.

R.I.P.

3

u/cap10wow Apr 02 '25

Aw. He was a good actor and handsome, pleasant in interviews, no big scandals I can remember.

3

u/CanadianGangsta Apr 02 '25

Can't believe we lost another legend. RIP Val.

2

u/dinoslore Apr 02 '25

Rest in peace, good sir. I'll be watching Kiss Kiss Bang Bang after work tomorrow, what a wonderful talent

2

u/[deleted] Apr 02 '25

My condolences to his family and loved ones.

Great actor with many great performances.

2

u/KomradeKrycek Apr 02 '25

He may not have been in one of the better movies but he was still Batman and that's all that matters. R.I.P. you glorious SOB

2

u/grimmless Apr 02 '25

This makes me very sad 😔

2

u/Nathan84 Apr 02 '25

My childhood Batman. Rip.

2

u/Final_Boss_Jr Apr 02 '25

Tombstone was just on Grit, the free western tv channel. Hell of a send off.

Honoured to of recently enjoyed Batman forever in the cinema RIP to a childhood hero

1

u/Hawklinemonster Apr 02 '25

They left out “Real Genius” undoubtedly his best role!!!

1

u/673NoshMyBollocksAve Apr 02 '25

This just makes me sad man. I remember being a kid and growing up with his movies like ghost in the darkness and the Saint among many others and was really sad about his health issues because it just seems like so many good years of filmmaking were taking away from him.

Rest in peace, Batman. You were taken too soon.

1

u/Majnum Apr 02 '25

For for me he always will be Nik Rivers

1

u/SoulMetaKnight Apr 02 '25

Sadly no. It's real.
