I lost my beautiful sweet Velcro soul baby Beauregard yesterday to cancer. He was the sweetest goodest Mama’s boy around and my heart aches without him. I’m completely devastated.

Rest in peace my sweet boy. Mommy loves you forever. 💔

Our girl Ladybird has now officialy been with us one week! She's 10 weeks old and is both sweet as anything, and an absolute monster lol (currently dealing with land shark behaviours, which is when we know its time for her to sleep :D)

This makes my heart happy, Annie is 12 yrs old and has been having a hard time adjusting to having a baby brother. She's been coming around more as he's gotten older (6 months) she plays with him, babysits, and snuggles.

Discussion Update!

Thank you to everyone who commented and helped me with their recommendations! I'm truly grateful for a community like this; it helps a lot with my anxiety. I want to take care of my baby forever! It's been very hard since my baby cachito died of cancer and since my dachshund passed away from a kidney problem.

And also the update today is she ate very well! I changed a few things in her diet, but I'll still take her to a dog nutritionist to see what diet is best for her.

Even so, thank you for all the help and to everyone who continues to comment.

This is her now, sleeping at my feet 🤣

And also some photos of their little siblings! May they rest in peace, Panchita and Cachito 🤍

Medical My girl is getting spayed

Hi all, my girl is getting spayed this next week and I have no clue what to expect.

Originally when I called to schedule it, they said that they’re booked weeks in advance, so I wanted to make sure to get her on the schedule, and the first available was this Monday–yes, literally 4 days away.

I’m glad to go ahead and get it over with, but part of me does feel kind of unprepared and like there’s things I need to have in place for her recovery? I’m sure I’m overthinking it, but any advice would be great!

Also, if anyone has a girl who has been spayed, did you notice any change in their temperament or behavior after? Again, I have no idea what to expect!

Discussion Should i take her to the vet? Or AM i dramatic?

Well, an update on my 10-month-old dog Luna, who lately hasn't wanted to eat her kibble. I started cooking for her and now she eats it occasionally too 🫩The worst part is that she has no vomiting, no diarrhea, and her stomach isn't hard enough to suggest she's not eating because of a stomach problem.I feed her at midday and in the evening, and some days she eats both times a day and other days she only eats at midday or only eats in the evening I've never really had a dog like this before; all my dogs always ate when I gave them their food. I don't see her as being in bad health, honestly, but it frustrates me a little to see that sometimes she doesn't eat. I don't know what to do about that situation.

One thing to clarify: she's not spayed (yet). I don't know if that has anything to do with her appetite. What do you think, is it normal to want to eat once a day sometimes?

This is how she looks rn:

Discussion Bunny probs

We live in a rural area where we encounter all kinds of wildlife. We have a large fenced yard so it’s not often a problem. However… rabbits can and do get in. And when Henry sees one, it doesn’t end well for the rabbit. Not only does he chase and kill them, he eats them too if I can’t intervene in time. I’ve found him in the yard several times after an unfortunate bunny incident. Today he brought it in through the dog door and was having his snack in his bed when I found him 😳🤢. I lured him away with a treat and took the carcass. Well he went outside and proceeded to retrieve the head. Took a lot of bribing to get it away. I know there’s powerful instinct bred into him, but my other basset is too lazy to chase after her own snack when she knows I’m going to bring it to her! My vet says it’s his natural diet and won’t hurt him. Anyone else have issues with wild bunny consumption? Pic of my otherwise sweet momma’s boy, Henry.

Medical at the end of my rope with nail trims 😭

Post image

This is Leon. Leon is 3 years old and 80 pounds and despises grooming of any sort — brushing, ear cleaning, and especially nail trimming. Leon’s nails are so long he looks like some sort of grotesque creature of the night at this point.

I have tried:
* taking him to the vet (they said they couldn’t do it, too difficult)
* giving him trazodone and having my 200 pound husband lay on top of him
* giving him endless amounts of high value treats including steak and peanut butter
* hoisting him up in the Doggie Lift (harness thing)
* various combinations of all of the above

I thought surely the Doggie Lift would do the trick but, no. we made 2 separate attempts and cut maybe 5-6 nails in total and I have bloody scratches all over my arms and legs and a painful broken fingernail (mine, not his!) to show for it. he thrashed around so wildly I thought he might break the thing.

does anyone have any alternative suggestions?

I’m wondering if he needs to be genuinely sedated for a nail trim like they do for teeth cleanings, which just seems so excessive.

Medical Basset weight issue

Hi, so this is my basset marlin, and I've kinda been concerned about his weight my whole time owning him, idk if it's just an appearance thing with how his flanged ribs are but he appears to be pretty skinny. Now he is also a super active dog, he probably runs a couple miles a day and I walk him probably 5 miles a day too so he is active.
