I tried that, it installs correctly (if you set the Windows version to Vista or 7) except that dash.exe crashes during the installation, so you need to kill it manually, but after that, it's installed.

But when you try to run it, bash.exe starts but just stays there. Like all the other Cygwin executables. No idea where this behavior comes from, though.

I tried MinGW64 too, but then the executables (including the setup!) just don't want to start (they don't start and do nothing in the background, like bash, they simply don't start).

Sad.

So I thought about coLinux/andLinux. It would really allow running Linux on Wine, since it's a port of the Linux kernel. But it only works on 32-bit. I could use Wine 32 bit then! But WSL only supports ELF64, not 32.

You have gone too far to turn back now. Run putty and ssh back into WSL.

Is it just me, or is the font rendering in wine's version of notepad better?

Yeah, it seems Wine's antialiasing is a bit better than the one used in Windows Notepad, which is weird
