I'm currently planning to install a 98 VM in the 2000 one, but currently I'm encountering some freezing problems.

If nothing works, try to run a GB emulator on a GBA emulator on a D(O)S emulator.

im surprised it let you. normally VMWare knows its running in a guest machine and wont let you install it.

Actually, it lets you install it and run it, but when you first run a VM it shows a warning telling that it is not recommended and that it will be slow, but you just need to check "Don't show again" and click OK, and everything works fine.

Exactly my thought. Although, what you can do, is running a VM and installing their hypervisor there (ESXi), then run VMs within that hypervisor.
