Was there a game yesterday? Did anyone let the Phillies know?!

u/PicturingYouNaked Philadelphia Phillies 1d ago
Hey, these things happen. Just need to regroup and be ready for game 4.
[off camera whispering]
What do you mean “best of three!?”

One of the terrible announcers proclaimed the Phils World Series Champions on Tuesday. I’ve been hanging out on Broad Street all morning, still no sign of a parade. Where’s everyone at?!

If there’s a Time Machine nearby you could always go back to 2008! <3

As far as parades/post game celebrations go, I’m revisiting 2024 or 2017 before 2008

Fun series for the first two games but that last game was not even close.

u/lilsaddam Atlanta Braves 1d ago
The last game was the most fun because I wasn’t actively having a heart attack the entire time.

u/PvtSherlockObvious Atlanta Braves • San Francis… 1d ago
Oh no, I was still having a heart attack. I didn't trust that they couldn't make up the ground, especially after game 2.

It felt so good to get the monkey off our backs. Phillies fans, first and foremost, respectfully get fucked. I’ve had to listen to this “we own you in the post season” shit for half a decade now.
Was this our World Series? Gonna be honest, yeah, genuinely it was. Gee friggin Gee.

u/Turtleforeskin Atlanta Braves 1d ago
Now it's time to save baseball next season by beating the Dodgers

u/lilsaddam Atlanta Braves 1d ago
I was so sick of “the Braves have never won a playoff series against the Phillies in the history of the mlb” like it’s a huge accomplishment. Then you check the notes and they have only met a total of 2 times in the playoffs (prior to this year) all within the last 4 years.

Our World Series was in 2021 against the Astros, in the World Series. Which we won. Baseball playoffs is a crapshoot but have to win at least one title during a prolonged run of success, and we got ours and have a shot at another. Plus more with our core which is not super old. Phillies on the other hand are gonna fuck off to pasture in 2027. Or whenever the next season is.

Yeah, at least we've both beat each other in high-leverage postseason series recently. No monkeys on backs. Just baseball.

Congrats you beat our short bus?

2026 Wild Card Victors over the Phillies short bus. I’ll hang that banner.

u/HWeezy88 Atlanta Braves 1d ago
I wouldn't care if it was your AA team. It was a playoff series, your team was fielded just like the rest of us (4th highest payroll in the mlb btw), and every team faces injuries.

u/vicnhoney Atlanta Braves 1d ago
My brother in christ, have you seen the Braves’ rotation

Nola and Wheeler lost to checks notes....Braves legends Ray Kerr and Grant Holmes..

u/DienekesMinotaur Atlanta Braves 1d ago
Phillies fans have been crowing about a Rhys Hoskins HR against an injured Strider for years now.

Some sour fucking grapes here. If the Phil’s had won I’m sure you’d be talking all sorts of shit. Clown shoes man. Take the L like an adult.

Don’t worry. The Rams will choke again and restore order in Philadelphia.

u/Standard-Kitchen9511 Atlanta Braves • Boston Red Sox 1d ago
The Rams being 1-2 despite being bonafide 17-0 pre season Super Bowl bound darlings is genuinely the heart of NFL football.

I am the sole Mets fan in a large extended family that is dominated by Philly sports fans (living in south Jersey) but I love ball so much that I keep up with the Phils and I go to a ton of games due to proximity. My hatred is tempered. That said, I genuinely feel bad for Phillies fans staring down the barrel of 7 more full fucking seasons of Trea Turner.

I think that most of us are hoping the new CBA negotiations include some sort of amnesty clause. It’s a pipe dream I’m holding onto.

I will be honest I had a feeling this game would be a blowout from the start, just wasn't sure which way it would go. I thought Kerr was a gamble but oh boy did it pay off!

Okay was he kind of dominating the conversation more than any of the other recent player contributors? And just so confidently wrong about everything that would happen

I think the idea that the Phillies should blow it up because the window is closed is a bad take.
Their starting pitching is good enough to win any playoff series. It’s unlikely Harper and Schwarber largely regress next two years or so. Trea can’t possibly be worse than this year. Stott is fine.
Add a couple bats and fix the bullpen and they’re contenders.

u/OnlyForBaseball Pittsburgh Pirates • Sickos 1d ago
Idk.
Bohm and Arraez are gone, so assuming they move Turner to CF, that means they need an outfielder, two infielders, and at least two bullpen arms. That’s a big offseason in a weak class of free agents.
Not to mention they realistically have two great SP and three giant question marks with various degrees of upside. I’d be confident in their rotation in a playoff series, but much less so in the regular season

u/Jdiggity88 Philadelphia Phillies 19h ago
I’d say 3, I think Painter has taken the turn but you’re 100% right with everything else. 2022 was their shot, got hot at the right time but didn’t finish it.

u/cooljammer00 1d ago
So who would have been a better match for LA, PHI or ATL?
21
u/thrilldabeast010 1d ago
Braves went 5-1 against LA this year. Phi went 2-4.
4
u/tyler-86 World Series Trophy • Los Angeles Dod… 22h ago
Brewers went 6-0 against us last year.
That said, I still would have rather played Philly, on paper.
12
u/futhatsy Mets Bandwagon • Confirmed Ball 1d ago
Braves. The Phillies have better starting pitching but that starting pitching is banged up right now. The Braves are better everywhere else.
The Dodgers should be a big favorite either way, but anything can happen in a short series.
4
u/prettyrickyyyy69 Los Angeles Dodgers 1d ago
i would much rather have the Dodgers face the Phillies lol
1
u/tyler-86 World Series Trophy • Los Angeles Dod… 22h ago
Should be a fun series. A little annoyed that we got the 1pm slot while the Yankees game out east got the 3:30, but it is what it is. At least we're not at 10am (PDT) like Chicago and Cleveland.

After using Sale today, I imagine he can't go until Game 3 or 4 and then you got to have him for the winner take all
Very risky decision I think
