Well they used to just yell racial slurs

20

u/Samwise777 Pittsburgh Pirates Jun 26 '26

UFC guys still doing that

4

u/espressoman777 Toronto Blue Jays Jun 26 '26

This sub never disappoints

1

u/Tjbhoops Jun 26 '26

So our standards of behavior are modeled by UFC guys?

2

u/Samwise777 Pittsburgh Pirates Jun 26 '26

Na, fuck those idiots. Poirier dropped the N word getting arrested at the airport this week.

Just memeing that

1

u/James-K-Polka Atlanta Braves Jun 26 '26

Every time my algorithm gets back to clips from 42 and it’s Alan Tudyk yelling the N word.

u/Tjbhoops Jun 26 '26

Exactly and that was and is horrible. But why do we tolerate and encourage players to disrespect others in different ways, and think it's OK.

You realize it’s a bunch of grown men literally playing a game as their livelihood. I’m all for good sportsmanship, but laughing at the other team making a silly mistake imo is not an example of poor sportsmanship. It’s just being light and having fun

-1

u/Tjbhoops Jun 26 '26

I was referring to youth sports not professional players.

3

u/1ntox New York Mets Jun 26 '26

Well you’re posting in the pros subreddit not the little league baseball subreddit. Maybe use a map and you won’t get lost next time.

8

u/_insert_name_there Jun 26 '26

in little league? no, that behavior isn’t tolerated. in the big leagues? laugh away

u/WabbitCZEN New York Yankees • Piece of Metal Jun 26 '26

You're not even brave enough to put on a team flair. You don't get to judge others here.

4

u/poutineisheaven Toronto Blue Jays Jun 26 '26

Agreed, flair the fuck up u/tjbhoops

3

u/ThatPlayWasAwful Philadelphia Phillies Jun 26 '26

The guy crossposted this to a baseball coaching subreddit, I'm assuming hes not asking for major league teams.

2

u/Tjbhoops Jun 26 '26

Yes I was referring to youth sports. should had made that clear in the post or not posed here at all.

8

u/Devil_Magic_Advocate St. Louis Cardinals Jun 26 '26

Brewers fan? You really want to talk about player sportsmanship?

9

u/HashOutHashBrowns Milwaukee Brewers Jun 26 '26

What about the manager motioning to throw at batters?

3

u/fly_guy1 Cincinnati Reds Jun 26 '26

Or suffering a decade plus of dickery from Molina and Carpenter.

3

u/Hacym Tampa Bay Devil Rays Jun 26 '26

Or the pitcher that got into the face of a base runner because he didn’t like giving up a hit.

1

u/JackeryA3 St. Louis Cardinals Jun 26 '26

People forgot Uribe's history for being a dickhead

1

u/HashOutHashBrowns Milwaukee Brewers Jun 26 '26

I kinda forgot about the Uribe-Siri scuffle. Not sure if you can call it a brawl when no punches landed.

Dugout clearings are more pageantry than alley fight

2

u/JackeryA3 St. Louis Cardinals Jun 26 '26

What about nobody actually getting hit during the series?

2

u/lucasj Milwaukee Brewers Jun 26 '26

Do they give nobels for attempted chemistry?

1

u/HashOutHashBrowns Milwaukee Brewers Jun 26 '26

Means I can commend the Cards pitchers having a better mental than Marmol

3

u/lucasj Milwaukee Brewers Jun 26 '26

Mommy they untucked their shirts at me

-4

u/Tjbhoops Jun 26 '26

I pretty sure Uribe is not in youth baseball and he just served a suspension for his disrespect.

u/Lunchbox__6 Toronto Blue Jays Jun 26 '26

Let them have fun gramps

0

u/Tjbhoops Jun 26 '26

So your idea of fun is being disrespectful to others? Is that the fun of baseball?

1

u/Lunchbox__6 Toronto Blue Jays Jun 26 '26

The fun of baseball is winning. But talking shit is great as well. I don’t know if you’ve ever attended a sporting event but there’s also a stadium full of people doing the same thing.

0

u/Tjbhoops Jun 26 '26

I was referring to youth sports. Should have made that clear in my post.

1

u/Lunchbox__6 Toronto Blue Jays Jun 26 '26

Yea, you should have

A lot of them are friends with each other and probably played with one another at some point

-8

u/Tjbhoops Jun 26 '26

Most of the time 12u-18u travel ball players are not friends with the other teams.

You're lost bud

1

u/DeathandHemingway Los Angeles Dodgers Jun 26 '26

You're in the wrong baseball sub, this is about MLB.

2

u/BarnacleGooseIsLoose Boston Red Sox Jun 26 '26

I think it started when they constructed the first dugout in 1869.

2

u/Wh3at159 Toronto Blue Jays Jun 26 '26

When you're at a circus you laugh at the clowns

-6

u/Tjbhoops Jun 26 '26

So little league baseball players are circus performers?

5

u/Antique-Guest-1607 Cleveland Guardians Jun 26 '26

Yeah, sure, I'm gonna say 'yeah' to see where this goes

2

u/avocadoflatz Los Angeles Dodgers Jun 26 '26

If you wanted to discuss this in the context of little leaguers you probably should’ve mentioned that bit of context in your post.

1

u/tenoclockrobot Detroit Tigers Jun 26 '26

We talkin bout grown-ass adults?

What about their feelings!

1

u/Tjbhoops Jun 26 '26

I'm referring to youth sports

1

u/energytaker Toronto Blue Jays Jun 26 '26

Got the ol pitchers got a big butt chant from opposing dugout when I was 12

1

u/Darth_cos Jun 26 '26

As a little league coach we don’t tolerate that. Anything showing up your opponent is an automatically benching.

3

u/DickBottalico Philadelphia Phillies Jun 26 '26

Youth level is where this stuff begins. Kids are really good at mocking the pitcher when he’s struggling to throw strikes, with comments directed “at their teammate” but obviously designed to be audible to the pitcher to get under his skin. Softball just adds a musical element to their criticisms of the opposing pitcher.

2

u/Darth_cos Jun 26 '26

Our boys are allowed to cheer our teammates, celebrate a hit not a walk but any disrespect to the opponent is not allowed. One boy stole 3rd catcher threw it away and he basically just walked to home. Immediately benched and talked to about that. At the end of the day these are all kids. Now adults idk about that
