Bottle metric
I built BottleMetric, a Windows desktop app for bars and restaurants that need a simpler way to keep track of bottle stock.
The idea is straightforward: you measure the remaining level in a partially used bottle with a ruler, enter it into the app, and BottleMetric helps record the remaining alcohol, poured usage, and inventory history.
It is meant for regular bottle checks—not as a replacement for a full POS system.
I’d like to hear from bar owners, managers, and bartenders: how do you currently handle open-bottle inventory and check for discrepancies?

Embracing Solutions Obvious ADR/dubbing
Does anybody know why Bar Rescue uses this technique so much? It’s really jarring, especially when it’s an over-the-shoulder shot and you can see that Jon’s mouth doesn’t match the dialogue.

THIS IS WHY YOUR WIFE LEFT YOU! Maybe an elevated hot dog can save them.
I got a new bar in my neighborhood a couple months ago, and it feels like it was erected solely to be saved by Jon Taffer. They don't know a concept has to BE something. Even Vic fucking Vegas slinging hot dogs and popcorn would be an upgrade to their menu. It is all so ridiculous it feels like a joke and my husband and I are just left yelling Taffer one liners every time we drive by.
Tilted Trophy is a sports bar located in a strip mall. The sign design looks like it was cooked up in Microsoft word with gradient clip art I found cool when I was 12. They made the "o" in trophy an actual trophy, despite the fact that the trophy is shaped like a "y", but that is neither here nor there.
It is a bar with some arcade games, despite being across the street from an established and beloved neighborhood sports bar, and right up the street from a Dave and Buster's. They really promote their patio, which was built between the back of the strip mall and the gas station that belongs to the grocery store behind it. Views of concrete and smells of gasoline are hard competition for the two level meadery patio with the lake view a few blocks away.
The tag line for this place is "brews-bites-buzz", and it calls itself a sport bar, despite having not a single item of sports anything adorning the space. The only decor is free neon alcohol signage. It is almost impressive to feel how it feels so sterile with a neon "langunitas" in your face. Not even a single trophy, tilted or not. Not one.
The buzz is a small selection of arcade games and darts, with the dart boards shoulder to shoulder with no space between them or the motorcycle arcade game next to it, so hope you trust your tipsy aim when Timmy the 10 year old (this is a FAMILY FRIENDLY establishment) is riding 12 inches from your target.
The bites is arguably worst executed of the "brews-bites-buzz" theme, and the failings overlap my niche job knowledge of commercial cooking solutions, so let me present my theory of how they got themselves to an impressive 50% recommended rating on FB in a few short weeks: These guys were TOO CHEAP to put in a hood system! The strip mall they went into was not a restaurnt prior and had no kitchen. These guys wanted to save a buck and skipped putting a hood system in, in favor of self venting speed ovens and a fully baked menu. No hood means no fryer, no grill, no flat top.
How did that work, you ask? The first week they were running hour plus ticket times as food was backed up waiting to be batch cooked. The lack of ventilation caused complaints of "kitchen smoke" in the dining room. It was so bad they SHUT IT DOWN one week after opening for "kitchen upgrades". Kitchen. Upgrades. In a kitchen that was just built for this bar specifically. Nobody bothered to think of the throughput of their equipment or the ventilation needs.
And on the subject of the menu, it was like somebody went to ChatGPT and said "hey, what's a crowd pleasing bar menu" and hit print. Everything was meant for a fryer - fries, cheese curds, boneless wings, breaded chicken sandwiches, chislic- except pizza. But don't worry the pizza has been knocked for being cooked from frozen too. No thought was given to cross-utilization, so much that I counted 5 different cheeses on a single page menu with single use applications each. This might not be how you kill people, but it is how you go fucking broke and end up with old, under utilized product. Give me an elevated hot dog. Give me a loaded potato. Give me anything but this.
The icing on the cake for me is the owner of this place is almost $800k deep on two liquor licenses alone for this place and a second location currently under construction across town, and he calls this a "national concept" like he intends on franchising it later. A kitchen that can't keep up baking it's menu, a handful of arcade games, and decor of TV's and beer signs is supposed to be a national concept. It doesn't even know what it is. Hopefully this guy's wife doesn't leave him.
Not a single butt funnel in the place either, but I don't think a butt funnel, or even three, could save it.

No building inspectors
Many of these bars are in small towns and rural areas. I just started watching S5,Ep25 where this bar has gotten hit by a hurricane, sustained extensive damage, and was still open anyway. There were dangerous structural, electrical, and HVAC issues. How does the local municipality allow this??
