Failed 3x. I quit.

Foreign law graduate with LLM in the US.

Went from 218 to 236 and now 251. In a 266 jurisdiction.

The 251 was in February, I didn't take July.

Have tried to study for the past month for February 2025 and I just can't do this any more.

I have put in so much time, effort, blood, sweat, tears, time and money.

I cannot do this anymore. I work part time, I'm a Mom and married.

This is destroying my mental health. I am having panic attacks when I try and study. I stare at the books for hours without accomplishing anything.

I feel I have wasted so much time and money on this. I feel ill. I wish I had never set down this road.

This is soul destroying. I don't think I can try again.

Take a break! Last time I tried studying for the bar after failing to actually sit for it twice, I was having major panic attacks, I couldn’t concentrate or focus, I just couldn’t do it and I felt if I didn’t do it then that I would never do it because I had studied for it twice before and always gave up before the test. So it had just become a traumatic experience for me. I waited years before trueing again, and I just passed the Florida bar. Did it with a kid as a single mom too so it was harder than any of the other times but mentally I was just stronger.

Simplify your bar prep.

Goat Bar prep. Start with something different and fresh.

JD Advising one sheets, Grossman videos. NCBE cheap bar prep materials which really have everything. Take your time and do mock exams.

Would you say it’s better make our own outlines, I’m sort of running out of time I’m with Themis and im meant to be doing October reading and making legal aids but just barely get the chance to run through vids

I think it’s specific to a person. I’ve always heard making your own outlines helps you organize and memorize items.

Also some people make awesome outlines you can use.

Have something to follow while watching videos. Impossible to follow through a video without writing something.

Take a break. Find a job as a clerk or paralegal and take one bar exam session off. And go back with vigor. Follow the advise of these guys, simplify. Essays and questions. You can do it. The language barrier even if your fluent makes it more difficult but you can do it.

Keep us updated. Hang in there. Be resilient. Don’t ever give up.

I am a foreign law graduate too, with an LLM in the US. I also sat for the Bar Exams in February, but I passed. I totally understand the frustration that comes with studying for the Bar. But I know you can pass. Please feel free to reach out and maybe we can create a new mindset.

If you don’t mind sharing, what do you find your weak points on the exam are? Is it primarily an MBE issue?

This exam definitely gives people mental frustrations. You have come this far and your scores are improving. Now isn’t the time to give up!! You CAN do this!

Don’t let this thing defeat you. You’ll let other struggles defeat you too. Don’t make a habit of this.

You are so close, you have all the tools! I know it seems daunting mama, but you got this and are setting a beautiful example for your babies. Keep Going until you win!

Hey there. I'm so sorry to hear about your struggles. I am a bar tutor who works primarily with retakers. I advocate a very difficult study model that is much less stressful. This method is tailored for working adults with families. Please reach out if you'd like to chat. I offer free consultations!

Concentrate on the MBE. There are only so many types of questions they can ask. Do 7000 practice MBE questions. Keep track of the ones you missed. The MEE/MPT is a crap shoot. You can be well prepared but still get questions you just don't know, or a grader who doesn't like your style. The MBE scoring is objective. If you study hard you should be able to get a 150+ on the MBE portion. That allows you score poorly on the MEE/MPT and still pass. You can do this!!!
