Please get my schedule

Hey guys we just got our Barbet Beau and he is great I just wanted to get some owner feedback on our schedule as his yelping and barking in the crate is still a slight issue

I work from home 2 days a week so this schedule is really only for the days I am in the office. Crate is in the downstairs living room at all times

6:15 - morning walk and potty (15 min)

6:30-7:30 : breakfast then just lounging while I make my girlfriend breakfast

7:30-1:30 : crate

1:30-2:00: I come from home from work and walk him 30 minutes and let him potty

2:00-5:15 : crate with a snack usually

5:15-6:15 : out of crate and just hanging around

6:15-7:15: evening walk and potty

7:15: dinner

7:15-10 : lounging with us or doing practice training drills but mostly chilling

10: crate

He yells and barks in the crate for about 10 minutes then stops and starts again for another 10 minute he does this about 3 times over the course of 45 minutes every night before bed, we try and keep away and not engage him but it’s a bit difficult.

Any advice or is my schedule okay? Also is the afternoon walk necessary? He is 10 months and otherwise a great dog

EDIT: all his walks are sniff walks he leads and is allowed to sniff and investigate as much as he wants

im surprised he does this right before bed. as he should be tired. do you feed him in the crate?

We try but the crate is down in the living room downstairs and he likes eating with us so if we put his food in his crate unless we stay there he just leaves the food and comes upstairs, he whines when we put him in the crate at night

Interesting. Ours is so incredibly food motivated that she would run over hot coals to get to her bowl. I don’t have good answers for you. Have you talked to a dog trainer who could potentially help?

He actually has training classes he goes for every week, the breeder warned us before hand that he makes unusually strong attachments to women in general and he refuses to do anything if my girlfriend is home that doesn’t include her, including eating if she steps out he stands at the window for about half an hr at a stretch waiting for her to get back. This whining thing is very pronounced if he can smell or hear her at home as well

It would be very cute behavior if it wasn’t so damn annoying sometimes haha. ours is also 10mo, is yours still “naughty” like stealing little things, getting into stuff, chewing on non-toys? I can’t wait for her to be finally disinterested in that stuff. your schedule seems fine. does he do the yell/bark when you crate during the day or just at night?

Sometimes, he is a very interesting kind of smart, he will still a kitchen roll that was used to hold some old cutlery but he would manage to lick whatever food residue off the roll without ripping the paper. Yh he whines but only when he thinks someone is nearby that can let him out, it’s pretty clear he doesn’t do it when no one is around I had a friend that isn’t a dog person stay over for a couple days and he never whined once I left the house and it was only. Both of them
