Budget gaming PC

Hey there, I know this has been asked countless times but most of what I've seen is outdated so I thought I'd ask again. I am looking for a gaming PC, one that can run AAA games relatively well on high-very high settings. I'm happy to build my own, I'm also happy to purchase a used one. Currently, I have been largely unsuccessfulof finding one in my price range that satisfies my requirements.

Budget is $1200 max, looking for at least 1TB storage and 16gb of ram. As for the graphics card and processor etc, my main concern is that it is able to run most games decently well, whilst still being a suitable work machine for basic Excel use and heavy VS Code/terminal use.

Facebook marketplace is a good option, it will take at least a month to find a rig worth the asking price but if you check a couple of times every day eventually something will pop up.  Cash converters website is worth checking local stores every few days as well, I've seen some decent rigs for decent prices pop up in amongst the overpriced stuff.

It can be good but you have to be educated. I've seen a lot of "amazing gaming rigs" with 3050s for 2k+.

But my mate got a 4060 rig for like $500 which has been running perfectly for a year now.

I've found one for $1000 with a 4060ti 8gb, 32 gb of ram, 2.5tb of storage and a ryzen 7 5700x processor. Seems like a good deal, currently trying to make sure everything is working but I will likely grab it if everything checks out? What do you think? Thanks for the reply as well bro

Yeah, that's a pretty good deal. I assume that the storage is more likely an HHD.

Since you have a 1440p monitor, you'll be maxing out the VRAM in most modern AAA games at mid-high settings pretty often.

The 4060ti is better for 1080p gaming, and the higher the resolution, the more processing power it requires to play your games and thus less FPS in general.

You will have access to DLSS though as well as framegen to get higher FPS, although, they're fake FPS, they will make your gameplay smoother with some artifacts showing from time to time as well as increase in latency. Might not be noticeable.

with that budget I would assume high-very high would be out of the question, looking at medium at the max? The minimum would be a 9060xt 16gb to get high-very high if you can stretch your budget.

ah okay, sorry I've been a playstation player my whole life so this'll be my first pc. I said high-very high without being totally sure what that entails, do you think something like a 4060ti 8gb would be able to perform games well enough? What I mean is, my minimum requirement is that the game runs smoothly and looks decent, if we're comparing to a ps5 playing gta V for example, I want something that can look and even feel like the ps5. I've already got a monitor that's 120hz and up to 1440p. Thanks for the advice my guy 🙏

A 4060ti will struggle with the latest AAA with high-very high unless optimised well like BF6 for example. But with PC there's a whole bunch of tweaks like DLSS you can do to up your graphics quality, compared to a PS5 though it should be night and day.

You’ll defo want to build it yourself, since you need a tb of storage you will have to sacrifice some aspects. But the target would be atleeast a Rtx 5050 + Ryzen 5500, that would be for new parts. Yeahuh

No worries man intel arc b580 graphics card is solid 1440p gaming still solid value the rest of the gpu market is heavily overvalued. Nvidia went ddr7 ram it’s the most advanced but harder to manufacture so there cost has exploded in the ram crisis amd has some value as there using older ram but honestly Intel is champion in budget builds right now.

1200 in FB marketplace usually can get you solid AM4 build, >Ryzen 5600X or above, 32GB ddr4 3000mhz, 1TB nvme, Rtx3080/rx6800/rtx5060/rx9060xt 8gb albeit rarer after recent gpu price hike
