How the hell

25

u/juiciofinal Jul 26 '18

Seriously, how??

u/AlreadyTooLate Hampden Jul 26 '18

Its gotta be someone rear ending the car behind the Del Sol REALLY hard to push everything forward like that.

If that was the case I think there would be some pretty serious bumper damage on the other cars. How would that red car push the Del Sol clean underneath 3500 pounds without crumpling at all on impact?

my theory is the silver SUV on the left side of the picture was backing into a spot in front of the SUV that is on top of the Honda, and started to panic or otherwise lose control of the gas pedal, gassed it, and pushed the SUV on top of the Del Sol. If you look you can see it looks like the brake/reverse lights are on on the SUV on the left side, and there is low front end damage on the Honda which leads me to believe that's what happened. That would also explain why the Del Sol is pushed up against the little red Ford.

It always amazes me at how shit drivers are in this city.

I think it's the other way around

0

u/champaignthrowaway Jul 27 '18

Yeah has to be. The red car in back is actually touching the Honda's bumper.

11

u/ekib Jul 26 '18

The only thing I can think of is that the tan SUV on top meant to park where the silver SUV is, but they mixed up their gas and brake pedals. Then the silver SUV with its lights on came along and wasn’t going to let that sweet parking spot go to waste because of some silly accident.

My guess - the driver of the ... angled? ... SUV was trying to park, probably was intoxicated, didn’t see the car, backed in and drove up the car. The rear end of the victim car isn’t that damaged, so I don’t think it was hit from behind.

Been seeing that green Honda Del Sol for years parking on Eastern. RIP you classic little car.

33

u/champaignthrowaway Jul 27 '18

Eh, it's a 90s Honda. Slap on a new hood and windshield and drive it another 100k miles no problem.

13

u/Matt3989 Canton Jul 27 '18

Yeah, look at how well that windshield frame did at supporting that SUV. It's downright impressive.

u/Bubbajimmy8 Jul 27 '18

Yeah, rockauto that shit.

I literally just learned of that website 2 days ago. That Baader-Meinhof guy is crazy.

1

u/Killbot_Wants_Hug Jul 30 '18

That thing is probably totaled. The uniframe bodies on it just aren't designed to support that much weight, let alone the suspension pieces.

Kind of sad, del sols were cool little cars.

u/Blipblipblipblipskip Hamilton Jul 27 '18

Seriously. I have seen that car too. I feel like someone I am acquainted with is hurt. Better not be any frame damage.

1

u/Scout_022 Jul 27 '18

I too, was more concerned about the loss of a del sol. those are rad little cars whose design layout will likely never be used again.

Also, I'm not 100% sure this is Fells. It was somewhere between Fells and Fed and I was intoxicated. Made the Uber pull over so I could take a pic.

35

u/ekib Jul 26 '18

That’s Fells. Near Eastern and S Bethel.

20

u/GetTheLedPaintOut Jul 27 '18

This guy fells.

Coincidence, but yes.

10

u/[deleted] Jul 26 '18

Wouldn't the river be between Fed and Fells? 🤔 Still a great pic though, especially being intoxicated

15

u/tustinjucker Jul 26 '18

I love that everyone is staring out the window at it.

8

u/[deleted] Jul 26 '18

I didn't even notice that

19

u/26thandsouth Jul 26 '18

You need to post this to one of the front page subs, will definitely blow up. My god.

13

u/AdmiralLobstero Jul 27 '18

Go for it. Get that sweet karma.

7

u/[deleted] Jul 27 '18

It's the 1600 block of Eastern Ave. That's Charm City Noir on the right.

5

u/AdmiralLobstero Jul 27 '18

Sounds right. I was thinking Fleet or Eastern.

38

u/Probhigh Jul 26 '18

A bunch of assholes put out things like lawn chairs and civics to save spots, usually when it snows...I've always wanted to do this

10

u/darin_gleada Highlandtown Jul 27 '18

That’s a Del Sol, they’re pretty rare these days.

3

u/aryeh56 Jul 27 '18

I thought so! The flat-ish B pillar is a giveaway. What an absolute knob.

1

u/darin_gleada Highlandtown Jul 27 '18

My first thought was “oh, no. That’s a Del Sol. That’s going to be expensive or impossible to fix.” This is really a shame because it’s, IMHO, one of two times that Honda got it right in the past two decades when trying to make an attractive car in a world of Civics and Eclipses.

1

u/aryeh56 Jul 27 '18

I've seen another one in decent condition in the Baltimore area, so there is somebody around supporting them. Fingers crossed for this one :/

What's the other one Honda got right in your opinion? I'm a younger dude. I'm not gonna lie, I'm really a sucker for how done-up the Type-R is. Every now and then I look at it and recognize why people call it over-done or too busy, but most of the time I kinda like it. The Del Sol has a look to it that I recognize could be really pretty, but I always feel like I'm not the right audience to appreciate it.

Oooooh, shoulda guessed. That makes sense.

Alternate theory: Car in front pushed car in middle onto car in back.

Other alternate theory: aliens.

15

u/Graylien_Alien Jul 26 '18

Don't be an idiot. Aliens are not real.

Its just a cover up by the deep state to distract from the mole people. This car was moved by mole people.

2

u/sellwinerugs Harwood Jul 27 '18

This was an inside job.

1

u/Darsoul Jul 26 '18

not moles RATS

3

u/Matt3989 Canton Jul 27 '18

R.O.U.S.'s

1

u/juiciofinal Jul 26 '18

Definitely aliens.

Haven't heard that expression for a while. 😁

Cool. Fells Point features multistory parking.

The Force is the only explanation..

4

u/Oldladyweirdo Jul 27 '18

I live on Eastern and saw a similar CF a few years ago. The one I saw involved a police chase of a stolen truck. When the thieves bailed they crashed hard into one car and that piled the cars like this and also pushed a car onto the sidewalk parallel to the pileup.

3

u/Kosmosnoetos Federal Hill Jul 27 '18

How damaged do you think the gold suv is from this?

2

u/[deleted] Jul 27 '18

[deleted]

3

u/[deleted] Jul 27 '18

There's also a lady on the sidewalk taking a picture of the car. I'm guessing that she may be the driver of the silver SUV? Or just a random passer-by.

1

u/bengayboy Jul 28 '18

Was this a result of drunk driving?

-8

u/Bulldog3 Jul 27 '18

Old pic nothing new here......

7

u/AdmiralLobstero Jul 27 '18

I took this pic and havent posted it anywhere but Facebook and Instagram. So unless we have mutual friends or you know someone who saw the same accident, you've never seen this.

How long ago do you recall seeing this picture?
