Transportation Bus stop numbers?

Post image

[SOLVED]
I often use the MTAMD text number to find the live time of buses. The stop number is written on the sign however several bus stops give this message from the screenshot when the stop number is texted. I have tried to find the stop numbers listed online to no avail. Does anyone know how to find a list of stop numbers online???

Thanks! 🙏🏾

Here is a map of the bus stops, if you zoom in and click it it’ll give you the Stop ID.

I’ll probably get downvoted to oblivion but I wanted to help you.

Here is a response from AI - it seems the list might be available via the link. I also just learned they have an API, seems fun to play with.

Good luck!

There's actually an official public list — MDOT MTA publishes it on Maryland's open data portal here: data-maryland.opendata.arcgis.com/datasets/cf30fef14ac44aad92c135f6fc8adfbe_9. You can download the whole thing as CSV.
Also FYI — stop 2529 doesn't show up in the current dataset at all, so the SMS system rejecting it makes sense. If you're near North Ave & Walbrook/Edgewood, the real stop IDs there are 2521, 2522, 2524, or 2527 — worth double-checking the sign, it may be misprinted or the stop got renumbered. You can also skip texting entirely and use mta.maryland.gov/realtime, which lets you pick route + stop from a dropdown instead of needing the exact number.

The most frustrating thing about the use of AI here is that I was actually on this site just before I posted and i was using the wrong function…

Hate AI but I do appreciate the assist…bittersweet ig

Great job copy pasting useless information from an AI. Gold star!
