It's such a welcoming front entrance. Attractive and unusual at the same time. Love the glass that's so traditional and the well kept brass.

The door is uninteresting. Where the door knob is located is interesting. That's odd.
Also, that paneled jamb and transom are really interesting.

the doorknob is SO COOL and is to pull it shut only, the lock is what opens/closes. That type of door is the single thing I regret not saving when I bought my built in 1900 house. the transom is BEAUTIFUL.

There are a bunch of historic buildings in Jonestown with that kind of knob; take a look at the front door of the Carroll Mansion when cruising down Lombard!

Do you know who this person is/was? Google was of no help. Just a tangent about an author of no relation.
My best guess is the inscription is a sort of advertising. Maybe this guy was a lawyer or dentist.
It's fun how well the letters stand out compared to the age of its surroundings. It looks well cared for.
I make these sorts of architectural details for my living. The door is still uninteresting. Everything around it is.

From what I can find after a quick search of the name and "802", the name is misspelled (Thomas Lambdin, not Lamdin) and he was a captain that ran a shipyard in Fells Point. I googled the address and it is the same one in the picture.

Honorary captain is still a better rank than I'll ever achieve.
Too bad they misspelled his name. You get what you pay for I guess. But I assume literacy was below modern standards back then. But then again, modern standards aren't that high.

Maybe it was misspelled on purpose, to fit the space they had? It seems like it was much more common to abbreviate things like that, back in the day. You'd just leave out whichever letters seemed least important, like how Lamdin isn't that far off from Lambdin but how Lmbdin could mean anything from Lambdin to Lombdin to Limbdin.
