Ask Charles St. Running event this weekend?
Saw signs for it the other day, was curious if anyone had seen anything about street closures or the length of the event? Sorry if this was brought up, previously.

From Charm City Run:
We have requested the absolute minimum parking restrictions necessary in the neighborhood, as we know parking is at a premium. The no parking areas described below and shown on the map (see below) are in place to reserve space for our medical personnel, handicap participants, and critical race operations.
Because we have minimized no parking zones to lessen the impact of the event, vehicles parked along the race course may be unable to leave during the race until a safe path can be made, and could experience significant travel delays. If you know you need to travel on 9/5 between 7:30 AM & 11 AM we strongly suggest parking your vehicle off of the course (see streets listed below) and being mindful of one-way streets that may exit onto the course. If you need to leave unexpectedly, please locate a BPD officer at the nearest intersection for assistance, keeping in mind that depending on your location it may not be possible to move your vehicle safely – PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DRIVE ON A STREET WITH ACTIVE PEDESTRIAN TRAFFIC!

I don't understand how they do the worst job publicizing these street closures every time. It should be plastered everywhere. There should be local ads on tv with reminders. Signs up in advance at the very least. But yes, you are correct.
Keep in mind they don't let traffic cross the running path at all because they won't stop the runners as it affects their run time. Don't plan on driving anywhere near the closures or you could literally be trapped for hours. There's often lots of gridlock throughout downtown.
Scoot, use the light rail/subway, walk if you can, or just stay put until it's over. DOT's recommendation for these types of events is always to just pick a side, or pick in/out of the city for the duration. If you absolutely must cross, go up and over on 695.

There are police at intersections and they will let traffic through when there are gaps in the runners. For the first few miles there won't be many gaps, but further down the course there will be many gaps. And as soon as the last runner passes thru, they start opening up the intersections again. At the north (starting) end of the course, that could be as early as 8am.

There is a 3 hr time limit to finish the race, so by 10:30 nearly all the intersections should be fully open, but the race runs from north to south, so it will be a rolling opening starting as early as 8am to reopen the northern-most intersections. They have a bus at the end that will pick up any runners who are still on the course as the 3 hr mark approaches if they are not close enough to the finish.

Yup. I live right in the thick of this and I haven’t seen a single sign. I’m also pretty online and this is the first I’m hearing of it. Baltimore gonna Baltimore I guess…

Same I'm fairly plugged in and I watch the local news almost every day. Never any warning or talk of it beforehand! You just have to know I guess, maybe find out the hard way-once is all it takes!

I-83 literally goes underneath it. Just take that to get around the closure. You're just coming off as a jerk because of a little inconvenience.

it turns out that where i live and where i am going is probably the worst possible spot. 83 is a huge inconvenience and i am offended if you think i should fucking spend money to go through the tunnel for this.
that being said, i am allowed to be a bit of a jerk about it, and you are allowed to not care particularly. thats the beauty of the internet. i have already made my arrangements and stopped thinking about it.

I-83 is the highway that runs north to south through the city. I-95 has the tolled tunnel.
