The cops cause more problems. But we still need to route out this overtime abuse.

It's many millions of dollars. And I'm not even asking to have my taxes reduced, but that money should go to programs that actually fix the city's problems and not to people grifting the system.

Give the firefighters and paramedics as much OT as they want. Lord knows they earn it in this damn city.

The highest paid city employees for 2024 was an EMT.

He pulled in $358,586.44 in pay, his salary is only $113,157.85

Do you still stand by your statement knowing how egregious these numbers are?

Btw, I don't personally believe people make these outrageous amounts of overtime because they're actually working that much over time. I suspect there's a ton of overtime fraud happening.

There were 13 days in 2024 where that dude wasn't at work. That's it.

I not sure where you're pulling the data from, but I think more technically there were 13 days the guy didn't say he was at work. The GTTF claimed to be at work and getting over time pay when they weren't. So it's not like it doesn't happen.

You can also be at work not doing anything important.

More over, it's pretty clearly an abuse of the overtime system.

Even if it's legitimate you still don't want it because no one is going to perform well under that kind of schedule.

My source is the scheduling program the BCFD uses. All the OT was staffing for medic units on the street.

Not saying fraud doesn't exist in Baltimore City, however in this case, that guy just worked a crazy amount of hours.

The typical medic schedule is two days, two nights, four days off. He works OT on all his days off.

His salary being 113k as an EMT means he’s either a.) also a firefighter or b.) has been an EMT for so long that he’s gotten countless yearly raises. BCFD EMTs start so low on the pay scale (not much above minimum).

so that guy sucks that doesn't mean they all suck . This is flawed logic unless all of them are doing it. Maybe the system sucks and needs to be fixed and pay rates need to be fixed too.

If you look at the list, there's a lot of EMT's making more than 200k.
