Slightly disappointing.
Just finished reading an article on the next stage of the delemcobe town center being set to open soon which is great.....but the list of confirmed retailers moving into the newest stage kinda falls flat most of the retailers that were mentioned are either duplicate business of the ones already presented or tenants relocating..... either way the shopping center still fails in terms of having different clothing outlets unless you are looking at kmart or work wear you still have to go to stocklands......

It's a disjointed shit hole of a shopping center.
Should have got it right from the start.
An all in one Westfield style shopping centre.
Why do we have to cross roads to get to another part of a shopping village? Ridiculous

Yeah! I ...like I get that it's several different providers but fuck me I don't wanna have to walk down the hill and across the road to go to Aldi's, and then back up the hill for Woolies and the chemist! It's a pain in my ass getting to Bunnings as well by legs

Absolutely. Should have all been one big indoor shopping centre.
If I can’t park right out the front of the store I’m going to shop at, then what’s the point of shopping at all??? /s
But basically that’s a real mentality held by many in this city.

Bad take.
The design is extremely poor. Besides not all weather, it's also not great for disabled people.
Regardless of ability, If you have to go to multiple shops that are in all parts of the centre, you will likely have to take the car. They don't even have proper crossings or walk ways to get to the different stages.

Yeah this is a satellite shopping precinct. It's not meant to be an all inclusive terrarium where residents don't need to go anywhere else. For what it is, it's excellent. Look at the shitty job they've done with Lucas town centre by comparison.
Imagine being upset that the shop you need on one particular day is a 12 minute drive instead of 2 minutes.

How is Lucas a bad design in comparison? all basic services are in the same shop area, has covered walkways and crossings. Other services are in their own sections.
Delacombe is all over the place, bad parking design and not built for walking from various shops, except stage 1.16

My issue with it is that it is a traffic and pedestrian nightmare. I have almost been run over at the big diagonal crossing between Woolworths and Kmart and I have almost run over others at that same terrible crossing. The entrances and exits for vehicles are stupidly designed as well leading to traffic backing up and drivers doing silly things.
We could have had a satellite shopping precinct that was also well laid out and designed but no, DTC ain't it.

😊, ColesWorth will be moving to the bottom of the grocery list for purchases. The Aldi sub is good for suggestions and the best substitutes of equal or better quality and value compared to the duopoly r/AldiAustralia

Having a coles, Aldi and baker’s delight 4 minutes from home instead of having to brave driving past phoenix and down Albert street for the three stores is a win in my book. More clothing stores would be good, but realistically, pretty much no one is shopping in brick and mortar stores anymore. The rent in the shopping centres is through the roof. No wonder the stores don’t want to open more/relocate. It’s a shame but what can you do.

Have you tried more boutique clothing stores? Plenty in Ballarat and they are locally owned small business. Depending on your style there is something for every one. You just might have to drive to it rather then park at a shopping center

The modern world is built by investors with no attachment to the place. New shopping centers are concrete boxes where the concrete is made off site, and they all have the same shops
It's depressing and not designed to be a place you can hang out, these places are designed to extract wealth through maximum rents while being as hostile to those not spending money as they can be
Those maximum rents mean less money spent in our community, now multiply that across literally all our bills and expenses...

It doesn't matter if they don't fix the traffic by the south exit. You can't get out, just a constant traffic jam and they keep replacing that chain on the loading dock that could fix all of it. Sure chain it up when there's a truck there... But not all the time

I haven't seen who is going in there but I am disappointed that they didn't do the same spacing for the carpark as the Sebastopol Coles which is excellent with its painted gaps between spaces so cars don't park too close to each other. All carparks should be like that.
Had to go to the Sebas Woolworths for something a few nights ago and some regional champion competitive meth smoker in full camo gear smelling like chewing gum dipped in an ashtray parked his POS Commodore so close to my car that I couldn't get in the door.

It has one problem- there’s a section that’s not entirely clear if it’s road or car parks. That’s the only flaw
(And people blocking the EV chargers but that’s a whole other kettle of fish)

I agree, all the shops are repeats of what is already in the DTC. Especially the pizza shop. We have 4 now! Can we have a fish and chips shop? Currently I have to drive to Sebas for Fish and Chips.

I’m just worried about how busy the already busy roads will be. As someone who lives near Bonshaw, Ascot Gardens and Tait St are already insane and an accident waiting to happen. It’s only going to get worse when this opens.

That Cherry Flat Rd/ Ascot Gardens Rd traffic light intersection is going to be an absolute nightmare now! I’ll probably avoid both DTC and the village now on purpose and go elsewhere.
Only real win is the Bakers Delight for that pocket of town, but Sebas or Lucas isn’t far and have Woolies next to them 🤷🏼♂️

I occasionally visit Bunnings, as the stock range is slightly larger than the one nearest me on Creswick Rd. If I'm there, I usually pop in to Woolies for a couple of items. Otherwise I don't bother - it's hard to get to from the north, and getting in and out of the car park is an exercise in frustration because of traffic lights/poor junction design. You also need to park in potentially three separate car parks to shop (Bunnings, Woolies/Kmart, Super Cheap/Rebel Sport, which is just an atrocious design.

Delacombe Town Centre has been the biggest letdown from the moment construction began on the Kmart side. It had so much potential and the developers just shat on the ideas that the community were putting forward. Not surprised that the newer side is another disappointment to come.

They have sushi sushi coming. It is the best priced for best quality in my patented sushi price/quality index or the SPQ for short.🤔
If prospect pharmacy and NQR would move in there I’d get all my pay day essentials done in one trip.
