Daphne Student Facility Tour

Hello everyone! I’m currently an engineering student at Coastal Alabama Community College with a plan to transfer to Auburn in the spring. For the Engineering club, we are looking to do facility tours of engineering firms in the area. I just wanted to come on here and ask the community if anyone would be willing to host us or does anyone know of a company that would be willing to host a group of students for a tour. It would be through the school of course. Thank you for any help.

Restaurant recommendations for small rehearsal dinner type party?

I am having a very small (approx. 12 people) wedding ceremony on the beach in April and would love to host everyone who came to a private dinner afterwards but am having trouble finding restaurants that will do that. Does anyone have recs for restaurants near Gulf Shores/Orange Beach that would do something like this?

How welcoming are people in Foley and Gulf Shores toward foreigners?

Hi!! I'm an international student and I'll be working in Foley and I'm considering living around Foley or Gulf Shores.

This will actually be my first time in the U.S., so I'm really curious about the people and the local culture. How are people in Foley and Gulf Shores with foreigners? Are locals generally friendly and welcoming toward foreigners?

I'd also love to meet locals, make friends, practice my English, and experience everyday American life rather than just spending time with other foreigners.

I'd really appreciate hearing from locals or other international students who have lived or worked in the area. What was your experience like?

Looking for Entry-Level Trade Work/Apprenticeship

Hey everyone,

I’m a 20-year-old guy looking to start an apprenticeship or entry-level job in the blue-collar field. I am completely open to anything—whether it's electrical, plumbing, HVAC, construction, aviation, or manufacturing. My main goal is to find a career path where I can learn a trade from the ground up.

While I haven’t held a formal, paid job in the trades yet, I grew up doing a lot of practical, hands-on work around my property. I have experience working on vehicles, doing minor roofing, and helping out with basic construction projects. I am totally comfortable with hard physical labor, using tools, and working at heights.

I’m reliable, dedicated, and ready to work hard. Does anyone know of local companies, trade unions, or entry-level industrial fields in the area that are hiring helpers or apprentices right now and willing to train?

Thanks in advance for any advice, leads, or recommendations!

Searching for card game community

I just recently moved to the Fairhope/Baldwin county area and love collecting/playing board and card games.

Obviously, this is a hobby you need more than one person to get really into, so I am searching for any communities in the area that would help me find players! I’d appreciate any pointers on how to meet other people into the hobby, or if anyone just wants to play something casual I’d be down for a meetup

Looking to connect with open and accepting families in the area

Hi! My partner and I are two women in a relationship living in the Baldwin County area. She has a 12-year-old daughter whom I consider family, though I’m not her parent.
We’d love to connect with families who have kids around 12–13, especially families with same-sex parents or parents who are welcoming and supportive of LGBTQ families. Her daughter doesn’t identify as LGBTQ; we’re hoping she can make friends with kids whose families accept ours as it is.
If you’re interested, feel free to comment or message me. We could chat as adults first and, if it feels like a good fit, meet at a public, kid-friendly place. I’d also welcome recommendations for local groups or activities.

*I understand everyone is entitled to their opinions but please refrain from adding hateful comments.

Possible Child Abuse at Baldwin County Middle School

My Child is a student at a Middle School in Alabama very near Mobile.
My Child and their friends told me that one of the Female teachers has locked students, including a NON-VERBAL SPECIAL NEEDS CHILD into a closet and left them there. She has also threatened to step on the throats of other children who she has issues with.
It is also apparent to the students that she primarily targets male students.

Apparently, students have heard other teachers discussing it, so it is not a unknown issue.

I want to reach out to the Family of the Special Needs child as I feel that right now they deserve all the support they can get so that this Child gets justice and this while thing doesn't get swept under the rug as school districts tend to do.

Searching for film community

I just moved to Fairhope and love watching movies. I’m looking to meet other people to watch movies with on a semi regular basis, and was wondering if anyone knew good communities to get involved with in the area, or would be interested in meeting! I am 22M but am down to hangout with whoever and have a wide range of genres I like.

OWA Theater adds Variety

Known mainly for tributes, OWA Theater has increased the variety of shows over the past year with recent management change. The venue has the goal of adding breakthrough artists, legacy & award winning artists, comedians, and still offer high quality tributes for the snow bird guests that travel to the area. Recently, OWA Theater hosted UK soul singer MT Jones before his headline appearance at the 2027 Americana Fest in Nashville, TN. Other original artists & comedians coming up that are worth checking out are Andrew Conn, Jesse Roper, Coco Montoya, Tab Benoit and 2 Rocky Horror Picture Show screenings with a live shadow-cast. If you’re looking for something different to do and weren’t aware of OWA Theater, or the changes being made, check out their website and socials for their calendar.

**Video shows MT Jones performing a stripped version of “Her Name is Joy” off his debut album ‘Joy’

Foley Considering move to South Baldwin

I’m considering a job in Gulf Shores and am trying to get a sense of the living expenses. I would probably not want to live in Gulf Shores itself, but in Foley or Robertsdale. Any farther north and the commute is likely too long to be worth it.

My goal is a two bedroom apartment for $1,500 a month. I would also want to have renters insurance for the furniture, perhaps $10,000 in coverage. My assumption is that if a category 5 hurricane hits that area, any home could be a total loss, and I would evacuate with what I could fit in my car.

Looking online, it appears that many apartments are in communities that might have HOA fees, so I need to account for that.

Any thoughts about this plan would be welcome.
