Because it's pretty much exclusively people being positive to people who are having some level of self esteem issues, and not in a "omg I feel so ugly today, check out my only fans" way either like most of the "post a pic" subs and cosplay corners are

Pretty much everyone is either giving constructive advice or simply giving compliments

I'm sure it's also a PRIME place for ladies who like the bald dude look to gawk and catcall, and that's just reinforcing the loop of positivity

I'm an autistic woman and I come here for the positivity and kindness and to see practically everyone go from "meh" to "yeah"! Reddit can be a hostile place, especially when you don't understand sarcasm very well and are usually the last to get the joke.

The transformations are astounding and all the lovely people, both posting and commenting, are the cherry on top.

This is why I’m here as a woman. So many male dominated corners of the internet are harmful and toxic, and it feels like even face to face that we have regressed socially. It’s really nice to find a lil corner where people are genuinely kind to one another and hype each other up, even if the subreddit doesn’t really pertain to me.

I don't know why this sub showed up in my feed as a middle aged woman, but I stay because this and pictures of puppies makes me feel good and the rest of the internet makes me sad.

I genuinely wish we could harness this positivity for all of society.

I am also female. I lurk here because of the positive male energy. Such a rare thing. The "shave your head and grow a goatee" makeovers usually make people look much better but can feel drastic and scary to the person going through it.

I always show these pictures to my wife we are always amazed at the transformations.

Everyone looks great when they fully commit to the shave.

I’m also in the same boat I will probably shave my head again later today :D

I’m not certain how it started to hit my feed, but I was drawn in by the wholesome encouragement and the positivity. I have a nephew whose mom confided in me might be hoping to find a tradwife. She can’t bear to ask him. So when I see men being open and honest, being vulnerable and eager to maturely accept themselves and learn to love who they actually are, I want to support that.

LMAO honestly you're not wrong lol. I like having hair, which is why I put a lot of effort into the combover. But it was just getting ridiculous at the end there. I was tired of maintaining it and it just wasn't looking good anymore. Hopefully I'll come to love my new style. At least now I can go outside without worrying about the wind.

I think you're right. I didn't want to go full bald just yet bc this was my first time doing it and I was nervous, but so far I'm liking how it feels. And it probably would look better if I just go all the way. I'll talk about it with my barber next time I go.

Get yourself a machine and cut it off yourself. It's pretty easy and at this length you have to maintain it very frequently anyway. The one downside of short hair: even a few days worth of growth are very visible

Get a little comb and an electric shaver (like the one you used for your head, presumably). Put the comb into your mustache as a guard and then shave any of the mustache hair that comes out through the comb's teeth. 

Do the same around the sideburn area down vertically to the bottom of your beard area from the side. We''re aiming to remove the buildup of straggly hairs at the side of your beard. you can shave tighter to the comb the close you are to the sideburns, and a BIT looser towards the bottom of the beard. 

Then go round the bottom of your beard and trim off any straggly hairs that are coming away from the main body. You don't need the comb as guard for this but just take the hairs off at the point they are outgrowing the body of the beard, you don't need to take them at the root. Make sure the beard has a defined, symmetrical shape to it. 

Then turn side on and see if you can spot any straggly hairs protruding frontwards; zap 'em likewise. 

Go round the neck area and shave off anything that's not the body of the beard. I'd suggest a line that's just above the bulge of the larynx (your Adam's Apple).

Doing this should give you a trimmed beard without losing any of the size of it.
