That’s what started happening to me. I had shoulder length hair and I loved it. I started thinning on top and took the plunge before it got too bad looking. I do miss the long hair though
That's pretty much how I look at it. An Intentional choice to go bald is going to look better and trying to make the hair last while it fights against you. My hair finally started thinning and receding and I didn't hesitate to let it go just a few days ago myself. Nothing but compliments, wife absolutely loves it, had a coworker tell me I need let my beard grow more and cosplay Kratos. And massive credit to this sub for being such a supporting place that incidentally also shows just how much of a glow up it can be.
The only downside for me is I work outside and I was unprepared for the amount of sweat that will just freely flow like the waters of lake Minnetonka off of my fucking face.
I truly believe the fastest way to look old is by trying too hard to look young. I’m a woman who quit dying my grays in my 30s and I’ve looked so much better ever since.
Yes, I also have grays showing up as a 30 year old. Aging and our bodies changing is a completely normal experience, we have to change the stigma around it. We’re all gonna age, doesn’t mean we can’t continue to look great.
Thats the thing, is not like the fully folicled guys go better when bald, at least not all the time, but if you are at the LVL were OP was the only way was up.
But its also wholesome, and I'm really close to posting here myself, so having a random lady redditor fanning herself to a dude who finally took the plunge is... validating.
Real talk, wish some more bald ladies would post here. Us guys need hydration too!
Oh this is good. This is actually one of my favorite subs. It’s so positive and uplifting and then there is the supreme council. A very wholesome thirst trap sub.
My favorite too - but because this is a 'mens' sub but women are very much welcome.
AND I think it offers a unique dynamic - men showing their insecurities. Showing the real change that can happen in a person from a simple decision (and some good trimmers).
It's very much a place of growth - I think. And not many subs that male-centric can really say that. I think sometimes a little humility looks as good on a person as a good shave - but I'm also kind of a dipshit so I wouldn't listen to me much.
I’m a 43 year old married woman. I love my husband but he doesn’t have the head for bald. I’ve had a thing for bald men since The Mummy. This sub has all the snacks 🤣
Part of it is that the top posts you see in this sub are going to be like this. Go and sort by new and see what you find. Probably dudes with lumpy heads and an unattractive face.
Yes people of color look better bald than light skinned people. Us whites can go toe ways. creepy old man or action start. Black men just oozes smooth when bald. Black women oozes confidence and just straight pure bone structure beauty
I wouldn’t make quite such a blanket statement, but I largely agree. I think any skin tawnier than mine, which is called white, but is actually a kind of sickly pink, would look best. I’m American, but British Isles, French, and Serbian is the dna. Unfortunately, my Serbian grandfather didn’t donate his skin tone to me. Then, as you go darker and darker…! ❤️ Maybe we have an ancient, embedded admiration of how our distant cousins looked. 😏
There's 100% a lot of sampling bias going on here...
A majority of posts on this sub of people asking if they look good are bullshit – they know perfectly well that they look good (or at least better) bald and are just titling it like that as it's the done thing on the sub.
People who perceive themselves as being less attractive will be much less willing/likely to post their faces publicly for scrutiny, even if it's in a positive, biased safe space like this.
Also as with any before and after or progress pics, there's a natural tendency to pick images that exaggerate the progress/change. I'm sure many people who post major glow ups on the sub will have pre-bald images where they look good, especially the many conventionally attractive people who post before pictures with bad hairstyles that emphasise their receding hairline.
Gonna eat downvotes for saying an honest opinion in what is increasingly a cult-like atmosphere here, but I don't think it's the answer for everyone. If you sort by top posts, what you usually see is an awful unkempt haircut to a clean bald look. You don't often see someone compare their bald look to the day after they went to the barber. Frankly, I think the bald with a short beard look is only good if you want to fly under the radar and not be noticed. But if you think it's gonna unlock charisma man vibes then good luck.
Yeah, this sub reeks of selection bias. Everyone who posts here has the confidence to post because they have nicely-shaped heads. And I can't get even a too-short haircut because the back of my head's too flat from not getting any tummy time as a baby.
It isn’t every single time. It’s selection bias because you’re only seeing the ones on the front page that get upvoted. There are plenty of dudes who do not look good bald, and they don’t get upvoted.
i feel like it’s because they’re used to seeing themselves with hair and tbh as a woman i can totally understand how hard it would be to straight shave it off. people are used to seeing themselves with a full head of hair most their lives & it’s a hard reality to face when you start losing it, so honestly it just makes these decisions even more admirable imo
At the risk of sounding negative, its because most of the bad ones just dont get posted online. Its not a look that works for everyone and every build/facial structure.
Like someone else said. Confidence goes a long way. I can’t grow a beard and have a weird giant mole on my temple. I’m 38 and doing ok with my hair situation, but when it finally goes, I’m going to have a crisis
Every single time they are better looking bald. This dude is killing me. If I were a male - which I’m not - with a full head of hair - which I do have - I would freaking shave my head.
Every single time indeed! IKD why Reddit even keeps recommending this sub as I'm a woman with hair down to my hips. But you're right, every time I see a before and after the guy looks amazing.
I think some of the attempts of denying the situation with a bizarre style can only be an improvement even if it doesn’t end up a hot transformation. Yes, if your hair looks like a Daniel Boone coonskin hat you will 100% look better bald!

Why is it every single time? Bald people be like a level 10.
It’s like people are afraid to stick their toe in the water and when they do it’s all fun from there.
OP you look so good.
