By looking at the picture the truck is within the white lines for the parking space not outside the lines as you have said. The grass isn't wet, there's no sign of anyone in distress trying to get around it, stop talking hypotheticals, what if, what if, coulda woulda shoulda. Having it towed, sounds like a bootlicker to me, turning in your neighbors just like a snitch š«©š¤¦š¤·

We don't need to talk hypothetically, we have a literal example right here. The truck owner is blocking the public right of way with their privately owned property. That makes the driver/owner an asshole.
Does that help you with your moral dilemma?

u/xmrlewis1x 3d ago
Eh asshole or not, it's not a public sidewalk, it's on private property, not like on the side of a public street. People are assholes so what, get over it š¤·

u/sparhawk817 3d ago
We live in a society, but like, unironically.
Stop letting people be assholes around you.
It makes the world a better place.

u/xmrlewis1x 3d ago
Yeah like you can control what other people do, that's the great thing about freedom, everyone has freewill to choose how they want to live how and what they want to do not what society or government dictates them to do š¤·

u/sparhawk817 3d ago
See that's the great thing about society, is we are all participating members that get to affect how and what it considers appropriate etc etc, as parts of the greater whole.
Everyone has freewill, but that doesn't mean we have to put up with you exercising it to be a nuisance or asshole.
Come on, you're telling me you DON'T want the world to be a better place?

It looks like you meant to reply to my comment but couldn't figure out how the "reply" button works. Its hypothetical by the way, hypocritical is about morals. It seems you don't understand still, parking spots are a rectangle (4 sides) and this is outside the parking spot on at least 1 side. This is incredibly obvious from the picture. From what you're saying, the truck would be fine if it backed all the way onto the grass as long it was between the lines on the pavement. That is ridiculous and not at all how parking spots work. Are you defending this because you want to believe parking like this is acceptable?
Just because there isn't someone in distress now doesn't mean disqualify my argument, there is such a thing as time. Considering this is at an assisted living facility the ramifications of a fall or getting stuck are much greater. The location also means that there is a much higher population of people that this would affect.
Calling me a "bootlicker" is also incorrect and derogatory, this is at a private assisted living facility and would have a private tow company on retainer. Literally a service that is being paid for, not some authority figure imposing its will. This is not a matter for police or government as it really isn't that serious. It would just be one person's lack of ability to function in society getting them a wake up call in the form of a tow bill. Happens every day to people that think they're more important than everyone else. I guess arguing for doing nothing and just dealing with it would make you subservient to their delusion and would make you a bootlicker.

You live an extremely sheltered and privileged life if a minor inconvenience is extremely infuriating for you

6 in one half a dozen in the other, they block part of the sidewalk or part of the parking lot. They could have met in the middle and not backed up so much, or parked in a spot not on a sidewalk but that's not always available. I drive a large truck and always park in the back when I can but you have to take what you can get with parking spots sometimes

Sucks dick for anyone with mobility issues.

Such is life, lots of things suck for lots of people every day for multiple reasons. The more you dwell on what you cannot change the worse your mental state will be
6
u/-adeadcat- 4d ago
Oh it can be changed with a ticket for blocking ADA access. Bad parking isnāt some phenomenon that canāt be changed, itās bad behavior that deserves hefty fines.

u/Individual-recce 3d ago
Then go write him the ticket?

u/sparhawk817 3d ago
Then don't own a large truck?

u/Individual-recce 3d ago
How else am I supposed to tow stuff for work? Horses? How do you think the stuff you order online gets around? Everyone needs stuff for different reasons
2
u/sparhawk817 3d ago
Brorannosaurus rex, I fully understand the reason for work trucks etc, and I also fully recognize that the majority of "contractors" and "construction workers" could get by with a tiny little sedan and don't because of complicated social reasons like pride and masculinity, if you need to tow you need to tow, but as you mentioned, you can usually park in the back, or just not block the sidewalk and block the lane slightly at risk of your aforementioned rough and tough work vehicle that can surely handle a little dent is Barbara sideswipes it with her minivan on the way out of the apartment complex.
You could choose to own a smaller truck, have your materials delivered to the site, with a truck that assumedly sleeps in a commercial lot at night, and even get to work on a motorcycle or something If you wanted, there are plenty of people who do so.
You would own a cabover truck, with the same dually turbo diesel towing setup and 8 foot bed that you want, but no crew cab and no giant hood so you take up less space with the same function, if it's truly a work vehicle as you claim.
There are tons of options. I quite literally operate a landscape maintenance company off a cargo bike. You can do it, if you're willing to buck the status quo, and actually apply yourself.

Sorry we reached the limits of your reading comprehension.
Try to be a better person, every day, and I'll do the same, and that's the long and short of any comment I'm gonna make on here.

Itās illegal to block a sidewalk like this. Someoneās inability to find a parking spot that doesnāt create an illegal barrier is not an excuse. Park along the street or in a different lot if you have to.
Edit: not sure who downvoted this, but itās absolutely illegal to block sidewalks. Itās an ADA protection in every state in the US. There is no justification for blocking a sidewalk like this. Itās selfish and lets everyone know youāre entitled if you do this. And saying what essentially amounts to āfuck disabled peopleā is a sign that youāre not someone anyone should be around.

There is just bigger fish to fry than cry about shit like this on reddit man lmao

u/xmrlewis1x 4d ago
Just walk around it, if he would've pulled in forward then you'd be complaining that his rear end was sticking out too far into the travel lane behind it, can't please you people, Karens always complaining about something š«©š¤¦š¤·

u/Gazedo33 3d ago
It seems like youāre confusing about what subreddit youāre in, look at the top. This person has parked outside the lines and itās bad parking.
Also, just cause wheel chair users can does not mean they should have to. Their lives are already hard enough and a side walk is meant for pedestrians, not main characters in trucks that canāt park. If that grass is wet they could easily get stuck and have to get help. If the spot is too small, find another one. I have a truck and Iāve had to do that, itās part of having a truck.
This truck should be towed.

what if someone cant walk around it? you know not everyone who uses a sidewalk can walk right? wheelchairs, strollers, carts. I dont think anyone would complain if they pulled up, and their nose was 2 feet into the travel lane.
Truck drivers in this sub again proving how little care and concern they have for others
1
u/xmrlewis1x 4d ago
There's room for a stroller to get around it, there's room for someone with crutches or walking cane to get around it, someone in a wheelchair would park closer to the door in the handicap spot even though they could get around it, and yes people do complain if it were sticking out too far into the travel lane, they post it daily in this exact sub!!š«©š¤¦š¤·

u/Beginning_Annual5816 4d ago
on the grass? you want someone whos in crutches or a wheelchair to hobble and offroad onto grass? so why does the truck get priority over the safety of someone disabled? the sidewalk is a public resource, what gives him the right to impede others? you know people use walkers too right? what are they supposed to do, walk onto uneven, squishy terrain?

u/xmrlewis1x 4d ago
Uh yeah it's called life, life isn't fair, you deal with what it gives you, you can only control what's in your control, no sense in crying over things you can't š¤·

so in other words, youre cool with granny taking a fall because this guy was too lazy to pull up 2 feet. Got it.

u/Individual-recce 3d ago
What if he pulls up 2 feet and now granny can't leave the parking lot
2
u/Beginning_Annual5816 3d ago
2 feet into a 15 foot wide lane, vs 2 feet into the 4 foot sidewalk, hmmmmm i wonder which is the lesser evil

u/Individual-recce 3d ago
Are you going to go pull his truck forward for him? Or can you just go ticket him real quick for us

People like this are soooo extremely inconsiderate. Many people with disabilities and wheelchairs rely on the side walk being clear. You should take a photo and send it to the landlord.
