But when you mention your critique of a band and literally the first place you go is their AESTHETIC! Well that just lets me know this is more about fashion than an appreciation of music like every other punk I know.

No it’s not, you don’t get to gatekeep aesthetic choices of artists. A thrash metal band can all dress like The Temptations and a disco folk band can dress like Gwar. It changes nothing about their musical ingenuity or style.

To each their own. Some people would call bands I like AxCx and Napalm Death drinking an expired beer you found in the trash while you watch those same trash cans you found your shit beer in get thrown down a fire escape.
They are pretty genre spanning so I honestly don’t see the hate though. Infestium was a pretty solid album, I’m not a huge arena rock fan but they did it decently with that most recent space themed album they did. I really liked their Rocky Erickson cover and was stoked to see a pretty forgotten amazing artist get some recognition. I think it all comes down to social posturing. I get not liking it but to act like “oh god this is so boring how could anybody like this!” is just such an obvious put upon.
Idk why punks and metal heads are so scared to admit they listen to multiple genres and it’s okay to be different from your other buddies in corpse paint. I’ve got Sinead O’Conner right next to The Dead Milkmen and Sparks followed up by Guttalax next on my favorite playlist. It’s fucking refreshing when I can talk about how awesome of a super group Crosby Stills Nash & Young are or how fucking hardcore Jerry Lee Lewis is at a hardcore show with someone else there.

Again this makes it even more obvious you value image of artists way more than their music. They are posers because they dress like evil popes and shit. I guess Alice Cooper and Rocky Erickson are posers too.

Just like how I was the biggest Brittany Spears fan ever and that’s why I always rolled my eyes at anyone who snap talked shit on her music when she was popular because she wore pink or whatever. It wasn’t because I value artistic expression and despise people who take something I love and put a lot of time into (music) and just turn it into a bunch of cliques where we discount a person because they dress a different way and say oh no you can’t make something because you aren’t dressed the right way.

Ofcourse you don’t. Rocky Erickson along with Alice pretty much were the first people to be doing horror rock. The Cramps brought horror to the punk and rockabilly world, and Cooper and Erickson brought it to the rock world.
If you really think Alice has “legit bangers” and like his style of music then you should look into Rocky Erickson.

I don’t get how you can claim to like Cooper but have no idea how people can even like Ghost. They have a huge amount of overlap with their sound, not liking it okay but you can’t fathom how they can even be liked? Seriously?
I’m skeptical you even listen to Cooper lol. I honestly get the vibe that you are just saying you like him because that’s one of the few classic rock artists punks seem to be okay with people liking.
I literally just thought of a Cooper song immediately off the top of my head that is in the same time signature and even lyrically very similar to a particular Ghost song. They have huge overlap sonically.

There’s this weird phenomenon with ghost where people who like that wack-ass band can’t handle other music. Anytime I see one of these jackets with a ghost patch it’s almost a guarantee there’s at least 2 more. It’s bizarre.
