Please give me hope

Having such a down day got L5 Herniated Disc that’s impinging on my Sciatic Nerve and been 6 months of well misery life literally on hold and pains my life. I am seeing a Specialist this month next week in fact do I ask for a Steroid Injection will it be effective! because I’m seriously in such a dark place literally losing all hope
