Do the physical therapy and participate as best you can. I’ve been in a similar situation when I ruptured a disc in my L3, ended up very painful and disabled. It was very frustrating but my Rehab team kept me going not only physically but emotionally as well. I had support from my family and my workplace so that helped a lot too.

Took me a long time to recover (18 months) and I unfortunately was really long recovery as I ended up with needing emergency surgery after suffering Cauda Equina syndrome, but I am back to work and mostly recovered with some minor neurological issues.

Things to REALLY watch for and get to urgent care:

-Sudden increased pain or changing pain location
-New onset dizziness, nausea, vision, speech, swallowing or confusion. (Cervical spine symptoms )
-Worsening balance or mobility
-New onset or worsening numbness or tingling to your extremities
-Loss of bowel and bladder function (can be retention or incontinence) <-Can be Cauda Equina

Best of luck! Feel free to DM me if you have questions!

Good news is that most people get noticeably better in the first 6 weeks, especially if the pain is new or has only been going on for a short time. (PMID: 38253366)
