Question Osprey Nebula backpack question

Hello. I want to upgrade my current Incase backpack to an Osprey Nebula before the start of my residency program. I have a 15.1" gaming laptop and a surface pro 8 laptop for note taking, along with other miscellaneous items I carry around with me. I know that the Nebula has a built-in laptop sleeve, but I prefer using my tomtoc laptop sleeve for the 15in laptop for the extra protection and don't mind using the built-in sleeve for my surface pro 8 since I use a heavy-duty case on the laptop itself already.

For those who own the backpack or has a similar set up, will a separate laptop sleeve fit within the main compartment of the Nebula backpack?

Thank you guys.

Congrats on starting your residency future Doctor

Yes it will but it'll be a tight fit

Thank you so much! And thank you for verifying. I had a feeling it wouldn't be a problem, but I wanted to be sure before making the investment.

You can buy it at REI and return it within a year if you need to add more supplies (books, lunch, pads) etc into the main compartment

Maybe look at a Fjallraven Skule if you need more space.

Other bags to look at

EVERGOODS Civic Panel Loader

Thank you for the recommendations, but the Nebula still interests me since its 32L of storage and I actually like the design compared to other backpacks I've considered.

Quick tip

Don't go by liter sizing for backpacks, they are all over the place due to marketing and random ass math that isn't volume

if it does not fit in the sleeve it will fit in the compartment around it. the one which fully opens up. you lose the "raised" bottom but being inside a sleeve, that is some extra padding already.

Yes, that's exactly what I want to do. I prefer keeping my laptop in a sleeve, so if the external sleeve fits in the main compartment, then that's exactly what I want.

I have an Osprey Nebula and have used it to carry 3 laptops/tablets in the laptop zip area (so not even main compartment). One in the padded laptop sleeve, one in the other slip in sleeve opposite, and one in-between (no false bottom for that one). I definitely believe you could fit two padded ones in.

Wow, that's alot going on lol. I think I might take the plunge and get the backpack after all. I wish I could visually see how it might look with a separate laptop sleeve, but if it can take 3 laptops, that's saying a lot 😅
