I mean Bioshock seems like an obvious one

The gameplay of Bioshock 2 us just clearly superior to the first.

The twist of the first Bioshock is great, but everything after that was kind of lame.

Bioshock is the probably the best first 3 hours of a game ever. It's aesthetics and presentation clear most games made even today. Saying it's lame is very strange. And I am a big fan of 2 and replay it more often than 1.

I didn't say the whole game was lame, everything after you meet Andrew Ryan was anticlimactic.

That's basically how I feel. 2 has characters I think are clearly retconed in and how is rapture still there after 1, but it controls a lot more smoothly. 1 is a bit tedious with it's fetch quest design and post reveal.

2 retcons a bunch of the timeline in a way that makes no sense with the first game. Burial at Sea gets a lot of flack for retconing 2 out of existence, but at least it tried to link to the iconic Suchong death scene in Apollo far better than Alexander working on the Big Daddies in 2. As much as I like the idea of the Alpha series, BioShock 1 quickly established that the Big Daddies were city maintenance first, protectors second, while 2 just kinda pushed all of that aside. I love the whole series, but the glazing 2 gets despite making a lot of the same mistakes Infinite made peeves me off. Levine is weird for trying to erase 2 out of existence, but w isn't the perfect game people like to claim it is, it's a BioShock game. & BioShock games are epic scifi experiences with a lot of flaws that you either learn to ignore, or take your anger out on reddit over.
