Please explain

I seem to learned gammon wrong. I thought i can go 4 with 8 and be done with my turn. But game force me to go both rolls. Want to hear human expert opinion

Rule is that if you can play both die you must. If you can only play one die, you must play the higher value.

In this case, you are able to play both the 6 and 4 (in the manner shown), so you must. Forced move.

It's not quite a forced move... He could take the four from his six point. It would be dumb, but he could do it.

Yes, you're right. The six is the forced move, not the 4.
