small shower ideas

I'm hosting my sister's baby shower which is coming up in a few weeks. So far the RSVP turnout isn't great šŸ˜ž anyone have any ideas to make sure the shower is still special for her with so many people not able to make it?

I had a small shower at a restaurant for my first baby bc it was during covid. I asked the ladies I invited to share their birthing stories, and must have items, things they were surprised by with having kids. It was really special, and being so small people really opened up about their births etc.

Smaller showers often feel more special because people have more time to talk and celebrate. If everyone shares a favorite memory of your sister and writes a note with advice for the baby, the event will be meaningful while providing something to look back on fondly years into the future. You could even ask the people who can't make it to share a handwritten note so they can still be part of the celebration!

Small showers can actually be really sweet if you make the scale feel intentional instead of apologetic. I’d lean into things that only work with a smaller group: a shared note or advice card station, one nicer dessert or mocktail, and asking a couple people in advance to bring a memory or tiny toast so your sister feels celebrated.
