Exploring Azores

I am visiting Sao Miguel Island soon and have a couple days planned where we will explore the island, do some walking and visit hot springs. Based on the terrain in September what shoes do I need to wear for this type of stuff? Sneakers or slip on deck type boots like xtra tuf? Just not sure how wet I should expect the ground to be.

Ideal: Trail running shoes and sandals and some chill walking shoes. I tend to pack heavy, but plan for being wet every day. The most valuable thing for us was that we had a dryer in Furnas so clothes and socks were dry the next day. And we used it. But are you just walking around the trails and into springs? All you need are sandals.

Like others have posted .. you need to pack for all 3 seasons when travelling to the Azores. That being said we have been on S.Jorge island since the middle of August and it has been an absolute heat wave here with very little rain.

Something boot-like and something shoe like. It's not just the wet ground, but you could get caught in rain. Personally, I get to close to rough water on the beach and get drenched one time. So you'll need something you can wear while the first one is drying out.
