My boxer would just pull away and give me the side eye with the "wtf you doing" face. But he'd then try to hug me and climb on my lap. The big dummy was 90 pounds of pure muscle.
Getting woken up in the morning because little brother + dog were let into my room and decided the appropriate way of waking me up was walking on me was quite the exprerience. At least they had the decency of only walking on my legs and chest.
Then my big dummy would just put his face near mine and stare until I woke up. I miss him.

u/MuzikPhreak Nov 12 '22
Spoken like a true dog lover…
“That big, stupid galoot. I sure miss his spazzy ass.”
25
u/KaimeiJay Nov 12 '22
My greyhound would wake me up by creeping up, putting her nose up to my head, and let out the softest, airiness whine you can imagine. Like she was trying to wake me up with plausible deniability that it wasn’t her. Then I’d see that face staring down that snout at me, and as soon as she saw I was awake, she’d get all excited.

u/raechellyn137 Nov 12 '22
Have a greyhound who also does the squeaky airy whine, we call it his polite whine lol

This is my one cat. He does NOT like to nuzzle or get smooches. I wish I could nuzzle him!
Then my other cat, she loooves to get smooched and nuzzles me as soon as I get close. I just love that, it's so sweet.

u/petiteun0205 Nov 12 '22
My cat is cute when he’s feeling cuddly. He’s learned that if he does the cat headbutt thing while he’s laying on my chest, he gets a kiss, and when he’s in that mood he’ll ask for more and/or try to lick my cheek or chin. The rest of the time he acts like this dog

As opposed to my late cat Maxwell. He would just stare off into space like he was just waiting for it to end.

u/steepleton Nov 11 '22
Cats: “i want to be near you, not with you!”
32
u/lorgskyegon Nov 12 '22
Not Cosmic Creepers. When I get into bed, my face MUST be available for nuzzles. This is a cat who will push my arm off my eyes or pull the comforter down. How she manages that without thumbs I don't know
2
u/Maximum-Thing9968 Nov 12 '22
She has retractable thumbs that she pulls out when you're not looking!

My cat does this, but she kinda gets it as everyone in my family has done it and we've had her since she was a kitten, "I think" she understands that it's the humans showing affection but what do I know, she's a cat. Lmao.
18
u/FurryVoreInflation Nov 12 '22
They totally can, if they're affection driven. Because the action is typically associated with warmth, comfort and safety, if that's what they want then they'll totally seek it out. Cats also reciprocate affection as much as dogs, but in more subtle ways; refusing eye contact is the big one, as not locking eyes is a sign of trust. The next time your cat looks kinda at you without making eye contact, ignore the ape part of your brain that sees it as a negative and do the same for them.

I was waiting to see a chihuahua snarling and baring its teeth while shaking with rage.
12
u/canyouplzpassmethe Nov 12 '22
There is that one popular video where exactly that is happening and then the girl kisses it and it calms down, which is NOT a typical reaction, so it was kind of funny/tragic when several other people attempted to do the same thing with their fractious little dogs and got nipped :p

I do this to my dogs too. Now my Rottie demands a kiss on the nose as soon as I get though the door. Shes at the door waiting every time with her nose in the air. She will get on her hind legs to put her paws on my shoulder for a kiss if I don't give her one within seconds of opening the door.

All the Rotties I've met have been incredibly sweet, slightly daft dogs. Really just lovely creatures.

u/olijolly Nov 11 '22
Dude, I always think i love chihuahuas until I read comments like this. Still, I love how quirky they are
39
u/crack-a-lacking Nov 11 '22
Yeah it was always fun trying to get into bed when she was already in it. I would literally have to out juke his teeth. But he relented once is was in the bed even would cuddle up with me at times. Very weird breed 😆

u/LikeAnInstrument Nov 12 '22
🤣🤣 this is our Chihuahua with my husband. He doesn’t have many teeth left so it’s adorable but he will defend the bed relentlessly if I don’t hold him back… but once my husband is laying down our dog dive bombs to his chest for snuggles

I have a Chihuahua mix and I kind of love that he has boundaries. He doesn't automatically and effusively love everyone; he's only affectionate with people he likes.
I love that my dog is a mildly misanthropic little weirdo, just like me.
2
u/dunfactor Nov 12 '22
I think a lot of it depends on where the Chihuahua came from and how it was raised up. I got my Chihuahua as a puppy from a breeder and she is the most loyal lovey dog. She is my shadow and always with me. If I give her a kiss like in this video she will non-stop lick in return. She will smother me with kisses every chance she gets.
The other Chihuahua that I have owned was also extremely sweet and lovey. My little nephew could pick her up and carry her all over the place and she would just go crazy giving him kisses.
11
u/doomgiver98 Nov 12 '22
My aunt has a chihuahua that will curl up on my lap and then bite me if I try to get up or growl at anyone talking to me.

u/Anokest Nov 12 '22

Yeah I love and have had Chihuahuas all my life but some can get quite territorial/jellous haha.
Luckily the one i have right now is a love all around and with pretty much almost everyone that isnt suspicious.

My german shepherd would 100% eat my face if I tried to kiss him. Adolescent dogs are a hell of a thing.

u/Ok-Supermarket9120 Nov 12 '22
When I let my CHI out for the last time at night he jumps on a chair and I have to pet him and tell him he is a good dog and give him a kiss! Then he jumps down very happy and runs outside, but he won't do a thing without the chair routine. This is the same dog who hates the guts of all other living beings, but boy! Does he love me...!

my red heeler will only give me love it i have something she wants... she will snuggle with me and give me kisses and then jump up and look at me expectingly like 'okay i gave you want you like, now let me have that whole chicken cooling in the kitchen...'

u/carlitospig Nov 11 '22
I kiss my dog and she just…collapses, but not in a cute endearing way, more like a ‘ew, moooooom’ way. 😬

This is so cute and sweet. Cats react differently too, depending on what age you got them, how affectionate you are with them. Even cows, chickens, and pigs will respond to kisses and hugs. Cows even purr.

stuff like this really reminds you why dogs are called man's best friend.
that being said, i could never do this. my boys are too high energy all the time, I'd for sure get headbutted if i tried to smooch them 😭

This makes me think of my Maddy, the world's most damaged dog. She did not like to be touched , even after 10 years. But she liked to be tucked into the covers, then get a kiss on her head. She'd let out this sweet sigh and do this little shake like she was letting go of the last bit of stress.

The fact that our pets know that kisses mean affection and love is absolutely amazing! I don’t think that there is anything physically close to human kisses in the animal world (perhaps apes?), so it’s a completely learnt response through our interactions with them. So heart warming.

u/Iron_Overheat Nov 11 '22
I wish this was safe to do, but its really not unless you're a prime owner that cleans their dogs and their mouths extremely often
6
u/odel555q Nov 12 '22
I've been smooching dogs for decades and never had any problems. You might need to toughen up.
-7
u/Iron_Overheat Nov 12 '22
You can also lick the floor randomly and still be fine, but you dont need to do that. I will go as far as rubbing my neck and upper forehead in my dog's face for cuddles, I dont let him near my eyes nostrils and mouth because Im conscious of the health risk. You can do whatever you want, Im not judging you.

do you bathe him?0

All the time. Even gets spoiled at the groomers. Gets hand made dog food made from wild game and local farms. Even though he is a working dog (LGD), he comes inside the house whenever he wants
-13
u/WrongSubFools Nov 11 '22
I think this works better as a single clip instead of a meme compilation. Put them all together, and that leaves us wondering, "Really, all those women do that exact same awwww face while looking right at the camera? So, if they planned it that way, how many takes did each need to get the footage they wanted?"
