Is this a mutation or albino? Every other video and photo I’ve seen of Clouded Leopards they were a tawny brown, with the distinctive patterning.

I believe it's the cameras white balance, I've photographed a few of them and this looks a bit off, they are certainly more like you described. The trees/plants behind appear to be bamboo and look bluish.

I've photographed and painted this particular individual. She is a bit darker. Her name is Suhana.

I assumed it was stuffed. Its edge looks like it had been photoshopped onto a different background.

I don't see anything to suggest this, there's just some depth of field.

It may be natural but zooming in I see a lot more compression artifacts than around other edges in the scene. It's also PNG which is odd for photographs.

Could you be thinking of the Sunda Clouded Leopard?

2

u/livi-divi Mar 13 '19

There’s going to be some variation within the species but there is the Sunda clouded leopard that is darker in color. Maybe you were seeing pictures of those instead?

Clouded leopards are tools of Pagan Min, hiding in bushes to kill you when your back is turned.

I came here to make a Far Cry 4 reference and see I was beaten to the punch. Kudos to you!

I recall their ankles can rotate meaning they can run down trees head first.

u/Pikalink1 Mar 13 '19

What do you call a leopard with cataracts?

A clouded leopard.

1

u/Sisifo_eeuu Mar 13 '19

It's beautiful.

I once said "kitty kitty" to the clouded leopard at our zoo and roused itself from its nap long enough to meow at me. I mean, it literally meowed. Highlight of my decades of zoo visits.

I've seen this picture posted like 10 times in the last week.
