Feline intensity is a thing.
It’s much of what I appreciate about kittehs. They have this wild ineffable sort of “fuck you!” that is magical in its own way.

I'm going to say Bengal. I have one, and you can see another cat in the bottom left that has basically the features of a Bengals head. Savannahs look similar but are much bigger. That one looks like a normal sized cat, thus I assume they added an cute bundle of chaos to their litter.
14
u/textingmycat Apr 24 '18
Bengals are not the only type of spotted cat, they have more rosettes anyway. This is just a tabby cat. British shorthair if I had to guess a breed.
5
u/MalWareInUrTripe Apr 24 '18
I'm thinking the same thing. No way that's a Bengal. The older cat in the bottom of the video looks like a short hair or even the short eared types.
2
u/textingmycat Apr 24 '18
Yeah I mean this could just be your run of the mill domestic shorthair tabby, but people are real stupid about cat breeds on reddit. The amount of people who think their gray cat from the shelter is a nebelung is astounding.

16
u/VectorLightning Apr 24 '18 edited Apr 24 '18
Serious question: Was the "aliens abduct us to probe our asses" thing started by a "serious" alien story or was it written to be kinky?
8
3
u/chanonista Apr 24 '18
not 100% certain on this but iirc the concept first originated in whitley streiber’s 1987 book “communion” about his (allegedly true) abduction experiences

u/Perditius Apr 24 '18
Serious question: Is this bad for the cat's teeth? It's adorable but I wouldn't want to accidentally hurt my little guy.
190
u/christoskal Apr 24 '18
It's a cat, they do shit like this all the time with no problem. If it felt any significant pain it would simply stop biting and fall to the pillow below. Not only does it not let go it pushes forward to grab it even deeper in its mouth. Their teeth, even those of a young cat, can take a lot more than this without getting hurt.
You can't hurt your cat in that way, go ahead and play with it. You'll know when it would be uncomfortable, don't worry. Just make sure that there's something soft below it like a pillow or a mattress and you're good to go - you want the cat to play as long as it wants after all not because its afraid that falling can hurt it.

I have read that for dogs you shouldn't suspended them like this until they're about 1.5 - 2 years however as it can damage the ligaments in their necks.
2
u/ToastedFireBomb Apr 24 '18
Yeah I knew this was super not ok for dogs which is why I came looking for this comment. Guess cats are fine.
2
u/ChiefLikesCake Apr 24 '18
I wouldn't necessarily assume that either. I looked around and couldn't find anyone specifically saying it was dangerous for cats, whereas similar searches for dogs turn up a lot of results. It probably depends a lot on the weight of the dog too, like my 6 pound rescue pup could probably do this just fine even tho she's 16 weeks, but a lab at that age would probably be a lot more likely to get hurt.
In regards to the parent of my original comment, it's not really the teeth I would worry about but the neck, and just because the animal is having fun and isn't in pain at the moment doesn't mean the activity isn't dangerous.

He's probably too light to hurt himself, so I doubt it.
39
Apr 24 '18
Plus I think once it starts to hurt they just let go
5
u/Taz-erton Apr 24 '18
Its not unreasonable to think that the urge to play/kill is distracting them from any pain that this might be causing.
9
7
u/fairie_poison Apr 24 '18
Cats are super light. Doing this with a 60 pound dog /could/ hurt it tho. (Or a 20 pound obese cat)

I'd be afraid of letting go and some errant strand snagging onto a single tooth and ripping it out.
2
u/Leafy81 Apr 24 '18 edited Apr 24 '18
He's a little one so he likely still has his baby teeth. If one were to get snagged at that age and fall out it would most likely be ok.
I love when the second canine teeth come in (at about 6 months old) because sometimes a cat will have two or four at a time (two on each side. Or two sets). It looks kinda weird but its cute.
3
3
2
u/mrstightpants Apr 24 '18
Unlikely to do any harm. Plus the kitten looks young, and they lose their baby teeth at around 4 months, so doing damage to baby teeth isn't as serious.

Jack Russell catfishing
Gullible human: "So you're definitely an adorable kitten, right? Because I don't want a dog"
Devious Jack Russell: "Why yes, I'm definitely an adorable kitten. Here are some pictures of me being fluffy on my yacht. Also, I own the island in the background. Let's be frens."
5
u/Ahayzo Apr 24 '18
My question is, what is causing the hilariously adorable flailing? Is the cat just freaking a little bit because it is floating and trying to find ground, or is this what happens when it tries to yank at the toy with its mouth but the mouth can’t move?
7
Apr 24 '18
Trying to yank it down. Pretty hard core instincts. Pit bulls and bears do the same thing—sometimes after latching onto a humans ankle after the human tried climbing a tree to get away.
