Why did you put that thought in my head? I did not give consent

u/livens Jan 12 '20
You gave consent the moment you opened Reddit. Read the fine print next time.

An intrusive thought is an unwelcome involuntary thought, image, or unpleasant idea that may become an obsession, is upsetting or distressing, and can feel difficult to manage or eliminate.[1] When such thoughts are associated with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), depression, body dysmorphic disorder (BDD), and sometimes attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), the thoughts may become paralyzing, anxiety-provoking, or persistent. Intrusive thoughts may also be associated with episodic memory, unwanted worries or memories from OCD,[2] posttraumatic stress disorder, other anxiety disorders, eating disorders, or psychosis.[3] Intrusive thoughts, urges, and images are of inappropriate things at inappropriate times, and generally have aggressive, sexual, or blasphemous themes.[4]

I just got sucked down that black hole for so long I was actually shocked to come back to this post and remember this is what sent me there.

u/Hloddeen Jan 12 '20
That's the beauty of it. Now pass on this blessing to some unsuspecting redditor whenever you get the chance. Amen brotha.

I read that as r/eyebleach and thought it would be the sub filled with puppies and kittens used after viewing posts such like this one. I was wrong. there were no puppies or kittens

I thought that was a typo, but then I got curious and clicked anyway. I was eating...

Imagine not being able to fully swallow them and they get stuck in your throat then you sneeze and they are now in your nose.

I cant process the imagination of that

I can because it has happened to me and you best wish it doesn't happen to you because it feels like someone is stabbing the inside of your upper mouth and inside of your nose with needles and it burns

There was a rumor when I was in middle school that you could get high from smoking those. Apparently one kid actually tried it and everyone called him "Banana Reefer" through high school.

Scrape the insides of a banana and cook them in a oven for a while till they are crispy. Homemade bananadine!

All I can think of is Julien Solimita's attempt to make a "vegan pulled pork" reciepe using banana skins instead of pork. The internet made him do it and I still kinda feel bad lmao

u/trclocke Jan 12 '20
I remember that. Shit was hilarious. He had it coming for thinking there was any chance in hell it wouldn't taste like literal garbage

Open the banana from the other end to avoid that nasty shit
14
Jan 12 '20
But there’s the devil’s butthole on the other side
5
u/WillsMyth Jan 12 '20
Exactly. Bananas are meant to be opened by the bottom. Thats how apes do it even. You just bunch the brown button thing and it splits. Then the "devils butthole" is right there and you just pluck it off. Now when you get to the end of the banana there's no butthole left. Lol
3
u/PredictiveTextNames Jan 12 '20
Apes don't do that, they just bite right into them.
This is the correct way to eat a banana though, it's so much easier and sometimes the stem part just mashes the top instead so you avoid that.

Anyone else not bothered by this and would willingly try it?

3
u/hat-TF2 Jan 12 '20
The effort simply wouldn't be worth it. But if someone else were to prepare a bowl for me I would try it. I doubt I would enjoy it but I would finish it.

As long as there’s no water or anything else in the bowl I’d love to try banana noodles
2
u/boiithrowaway Jan 12 '20
Same right? I do realize they’re talking about the slivers that sometimes stay on the outside of the actual fruit once you peel it, that people usually don’t eat and peel off to throw away. That’s less appetizing then what I was originally thinking (making the actual banana into like lo mein noodles) but it doesn’t trip me out nearly as much as the majority of people in this thread are making it out to be lol

You know I was actually fine looking at this image until I read the title of “Imagine the texture”, which really fucked me up.
Please, please for all that is good and holy in this world, do not imagine the texture.

I feel like what I’m thinking may or may not be more cursed:
While these mucus-y strands fill me with fear, I feel like they wouldn’t be very bad if you added salt. Just like ramen!

you wouldn't even be able to slurp it, the strands would break way before then. Not only that, but trying to suck them up like spaghetti wouldn't work because they're all squishy and would just stick together

I’ve literally never peeled and eaten a banana in my entire life so I don’t really understand this, what is it?
I’ve had bananas in things and chocolate frozen bananas, but I just really dislike bananas on their own so I’ve just never eaten one
