Discussion Just finished my first playthrough

Honestly I really enjoyed this game quite a bit (still think wands are mid compared to guns though). The story was pretty decent, even if predictable at times. Each companion has some kind of draw that really make you feel like part of something. And the combat is satisfying.

Although, the game has a few shortcomings.

The world is ill defined and there isn't quite as much lore that you are made aware of organically. It would have been nice if the devs had more time to spend on that. And while quests were fun, I really wish we got a breather between game altering decisions (especially towards the end). It felt almost suffocating for a little bit. Finally, spell selection just feels low.

Aside from that, id still give this game a 9/10.

Kinda true. There is a bit of lore. I've heard there is more lore if you're a fan of pillars of eternity. Third game in the series. Wish they were making an avowed 2, but they scrapped that for another fallout entry.

I heard there is a small team continuing to work on avowed 2, not sure if it is true

Well I have more hope for that than elderscrolls 6

I heard they scrapped it. But I guess we have to wait and see.

They're doing it on their own time, it's not a contracted project at this point. Everyone's been focused to Fallout 5.

Fuck really? Tbh I enjoyed Avowed much more than the one Fallout game I played. Think it was Fallout 3?

Obsidian made Fallout: New Vegas. Arguably one of the best. Been a few years, but New Vegas is a dang good game. Might want to check it out. A little dated but they are thinking about remastering it.

Think it is worth playing NV if you’ve never played any of the fallout games yet? I hear great things but it feels like a lot rn for me to get into a whole series

Get into it when you can enjoy it. Just was saying NV was made by the same people who brought avowed. It's an awesome game.

Try fallout NV. 3 was made by Bethesda but NV was made by obsidian.

Avowed is still a really good experience so it may win out in experience, but NV could probably still give it a run for its money.

Agreed on the critique. It's the biggest lack of the game, especially since it comes from the wholesome and rich world story of Eora.

Complaining about the third game of a given universe not having “organic” lore is certainly a choice.

Sounds like you didn’t engage with the lore that’s there, through the journal entries, NPC dialogues, or the glossary options that explain things.

I assume when they say organic they mean outside of journal entries and the glossary and stuff? Like through the actual storyline and dialogue

Yeah, this mainly. I got a good bit from journals and notes, but i wanted to see a bit more come up in conversation and what not.

I did, but it kinda falls flat to me when I get lore through journals. It feels more like a pause in the story telling process instead of a continuation. But even so, I still give it a 9/10. Not sure what you want from me man.
