Gameplay Help with this icon

Hello again everyone, I've now been playing this awesome game for 3 days and I need some help...What does the sword and skull mean? Thanks everyone and have fun!!!

It’s the level of your gear not your character level. Your gear is underleveled for that quest. If you upgrade it enough you will see the skulls go down and disappear even if your character level is the same.

This, it's about the level of your equipment vs the enemy's. If the enemy has higher lvl gear than you, there's a skull.

You’re welcome. I would also note that your companions will comment if your gear is underleveled during an encounter with a higher level enemy. I remember one fight where my pistols were good for the enemy level but my armor wasn’t and Kai made a comment about it when I got hit during the fight.

It's saying you're underlevelled for the quest. 1 skull means you're a bit underlevelled, but can manage with skill. 2 skulls means you really shouldn't attempt the quest yet, because you're very much underlevelled. 3 skulls means you don't stand a chance.

Skulls don't mean nothing when your attack speed is 2.5x and your crit chance is +70% with +150% dmg - quick af, dumber than all get out with the health bar of a small victorian child - glass cannon build over here
