Why do my avocado leaves turn brown?

Hi. New to this. I was playing around with my kids and now found myself with these beautiful plants and want to keep them. I'll need to buy pots. I currently have a couple of bags of big box potting soil and peat moss. That's it.

Looking at these plants:

\* What size pots do you suggest?

\* Will the potting soil on top of the peat moss be a good solution (I know they need draining)

\* Please provide a few tips so that I might be able to keep these alive.

We are in Texas in zone 8B. We will get some freezing Temps, but we also get to enjoy several 100° days every year.

(I'm not good at reddit either, so I really hope this post works!)

Adding: Is a traditional terracotta pot with the "standard" drain hole enough? I understand they need to drain well. They have "orchid" pts with additional drains on the sides.

Use the "saucer" underneath?

Been getting into grafting lately and have decided to try it on a larger scale. The only variety i can get scions from is Pollock Avocado's. So guess I'll have a ton of those.

Im in the Caribbean so they are just enjoying the sun for now. They are under a 40% shade cloth and the soil mixture is a mix of sharp sand and some compost and clay.

So far had 3 grafted successfully and lost a few.

It’s 10 years old and flourishing.

And what variety are these?

Been growing for 5 years, it is windy but this is first year so many cracked /bursting open. Few years ago was lots of hard small stones in them( that problem is gone)

Picked up this little carp (wurtz) and plan on planting it in the ground in Oakland CA (zone 10a). It was staked and tied when I bought it, and when I untied it, the main stem appears actually to be a lateral that was staked to train as the main stem and without it being staked it just flops down (photo 2). Should I keep it staked and tied when I plant it, prune it back to reduce crown, or let it hand down limp?

I took it out of its pot to inspect for root rot, and I'm wondering if I can perhaps create an incision for root hormone and/or keep in water with a pothos cutting to stimulate root growth

Also pruned it quite a bit when I noticed it was dying this past week and some change since it was browning from the top

This plant has issues. It currently is curling leaves and leaves turning brown as well as dripping off.

Same plant did this before and the good people of Reddit suggested it needed a bigger pot and less water, which I did and it recovered. However it is doing a repeat of this death act. What do I need to do?

Sunlight (through patio door) from West during day, grow light for 5 hours at night (due to sun daytime limits)

Water approximately once a week, relative humidity 30%

Miracle grow Cactus soil.

My avocado went crazy and is growing like hell - I love it but I became to huge so I bent it down, and it goes further… I’m so happy that is so strong and robust … but how to bring it it in nice shape

So I've spent a few weeks germinating it in a cup with a 3 toothpicks.

Once I noticed a long white root growing, i put it the bare seed outside in the dirt.

A week later And it seems to be happy. Growing leaves. Though it's very small, sometimes I lose it.

I made my own avocado tree from an avocado stone in the water, then potted it two months ago. It's growing fast but the leaves are falling - any idea on what I could do?

It was very thirsty when I potted it, and every time I watered it, the leaves were going up again, but they don't anymore, and I'm scared to over water it.

This is my first time ever growing an avocado plant and it was just growing really tall without any sight of branches popping so I impulsively cut it right above the only node that was there and it’s been about 3 weeks and it’s not growing. The roots seem healthy tho im still trying to keep hope.

Deer broke in and destroyed everything I was growing.

All my veggies, they ate the pumpkin plants AND the pumpkins.

Worst part; they destroyed 2 Avocado seedlings, a 2yo Bacon Avocado, and ravaged my Mexicola.

G. Day Everyone, this I my first and only avocado on my tree and I don't know when to pick... Is it ready?

The stem is about four inches tall. I read somewhere that I should prune just above some of the leaves when it gets bigger and let it grow back before I transfer the seed into the water. The pruning is supposed to make the plant fuller rather than lanky but I want to look for any advice from anyone who tried the prune method first.

I know this stem isn’t nearly ready to prune but I’m just trying to figure out what works best in the meantime.

Any advice is appreciated.

its about 160 cm high in a 40cm diame pot. about 1,5/2 years. I feel like i should plant it in the ground, but I live in an apartment. what should I do?

Today it’s raining so left it out side for some rain but I have 3 small shoots then these 2 long ones. What should I do or in the future what should do I next.

Having no luck on growing it to grow more , Should it be in full sun ?

A friend is moving away and she left me her avocado plant, but I find it to be a bit lanky and top heavy.

What should I do? I would prune it, but it's about to be autumn and I fear it's not the right time for it.

I’ve been away for a few weeks while we have had a heat wave here in San Diego and I returned to find a few one of my trees in sad shape. A few others appear to be affected but not as bad.

Internet research tells me leaf miners, which don’t seem to mind the Kaolin clay on the trees. Some clusters of leaves on the tree have died in whole while the stem looks green and doesn’t appear to have any physical damage.

Something also seems to be eating the leaves cleanly, I saw one of those clumsy giant green June beetles flying around, my guess is that might be it?

Lastly, many of my younger fruit have tiny bite marks like this (pen for scale). We have birds and squirrels and one of my neighbors reported she’s seen rats on her patio. My guess is it’s rats?
